Barnes measures in at 5’8 155-pounds and is a budding young player at Cherry Creek. This past season, he had 8 carries for 66 yards at the varsity level. He has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, balance, and good change of direction. Barnes uses his very good vision to pick, slide, and accelerate into the open gap. If one’s covered, he’ll use his jump cuts to pivot into the open hole. Very good inside running and good outside running. Barnes does a great job gaining yards after contact, due to shedding off tackles, or using his balance to stop himself from stumbling. Look for Lex to carve out a bigger role for himself in the Creek backfield.

Barnes is another exciting running back in the Cherry Creek staple. Measures in at 5’8 155-pounds. In limited varsity action, he had 8 carries for 66 yards. Barnes has good athletic ability due to very good balance, acceleration, speed, and good change of direction. Barnes hits the hole with ferocity and explosive quick start. Very good vision to weave around. He isn’t afraid of getting physical by putting his shoulder down and trucking through. I’m very excited to see how Lex continues his development as a running back. I believe he has a very high ceiling!

Cherry Creek’s stud athlete Lex Barnes has mad game. He has a knack for the goaline and runs behind his pads with a purpose no matter where the ball is marked. Solid leg drive and instincts make him hard to bring down. Lex can be moved around as well, but his bread and butter comes by way of a hand off, then just get out the way and watch him work. A lot of upside to his ability and he’s getting better weekly. Don’t sleep on Colorado ball. Barnes is a playmaker.
