Barnes measures in at 5’8 155-pounds and is a budding young player at Cherry Creek. This past season, he had 8 carries for 66 yards at the varsity level. He has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, balance, and good change of direction. Barnes uses his very good vision to pick, slide, and accelerate into the open gap. If one’s covered, he’ll use his jump cuts to pivot into the open hole. Very good inside running and good outside running. Barnes does a great job gaining yards after contact, due to shedding off tackles, or using his balance to stop himself from stumbling. Look for Lex to carve out a bigger role for himself in the Creek backfield.
