Phillips thrives as a downhill threat that attacks the defense with his strength and physicality. Kid’s a bowling ball. Phillips thrives with his contact balance. He’ll shed tackles with ease and use his powerful legs to churn forward. Great stiff arm and trucking. Phillips remains an under the radar talent in a loaded Cherry Creek backfield, competing for opportunities in a crowded rotation. Despite limited carries, he made the most of his touches, rushing for 324 yards and a touchdown on just 39 attempts. Phillips demonstrates the ability to reach the second level quickly and force missed tackles in space, keeping drives alive with efficient runs. His patience behind the line of scrimmage allows blocks to develop and he accelerates with a quick burst through openings. As he continues battling for a larger role, increased opportunities could unlock greater production. Phillips’ skill set suggests untapped upside within a competitive program.

Phillips measures in at 5’9 210-pounds and is part of the talented running back stable at Chery Creek. This past season, he had 39 carries for 324 yards with 1 touchdown. Phillips is a bruising power back runner. He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, balance, and good change of direction. Very good vision to diagnose his way through a defense. Picks, slides, and accelerates into the open hole. Very good inside running with good outside running. Phillips consistently gains yards after contact. He bounces off defenders with ease, runs right through them, or uses his powerful stiff arm to gain more yards. Very good trucking as well. I can’t wait see Phillips in an extended role going into next season! I love the way he runs, and colleges need to take a look at his film.
