We count down to kickoff with the most comprehensive, in-depth guide to every classification in Georgia, starting with part 1 of a massive 6A class.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Region 1</h2>   Projected Order of Finish   1. Lakeside Evans   Preseason Player Accolades   Offensive Preseason POTY: '27 Brunswick RB [player_tooltip player_id='1622142' first='Josiah' last='Gibbons']   Defensive Preseason POTY: '28 Effingham County DL [player_tooltip player_id='410797' first='RJ' last='Brown']   Preseason LOTY: '27 Effingham County OL [player_tooltip player_id='637592' first='Jordan' last='Dillon']   Summary   In 2025, this region was separated by a September 5th victory by Brunswick over Effingham County. This fall, I expect those two teams to be the main competitors once again. Statesboro was the lone loss in the fall for Brunswick, but they head off to a new region. Every returning team lost 3 or more region games last year.   Grovetown is the main newcomer, stepping into a new region after navigating a gauntlet with the likes of Grayson, Newton, and South Gwinnett. They lost their matchup to Greenbrier 14-12 last year, but did defeat Lakeside and Evans in blowout fashion. They will have to replace seniors across the board, including at QB, WR, and their top two leading rushers.   Brunswick was very much a junior-led team a year ago, and they return most of their production from a 9-win campaign. They lose a prolific passer at QB, but return what I believe is the best RB duo in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='1622142' first='Josiah' last='Gibbons'] and [player_tooltip player_id='942201' first='Nigel' last='Gardner'], both of whom rushed for over 1200 yards last year. They return 4 of their top 5 leading receivers, 7 of their top 8 leading tacklers, their top 2 leaders in sacks, and their top 2 ballhawks in the secondary in '27 Ziyan Rankins and '27 [player_tooltip player_id='2111236' first='Samir' last='Dobbins']. Effingham County loses its QB, but returns a 1000 yard rusher in [player_tooltip player_id='1097864' first='Jmere' last='Doe-Davis'] and their top 3 receivers in '27 [player_tooltip player_id='1648880' first='Trayvis' last='Hunter'], '28 [player_tooltip player_id='1184358' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'], and '27 Malik Letman. Impact transfers in '27 [player_tooltip player_id='637592' first='Jordan' last='Dillon'] and '28 [player_tooltip player_id='410797' first='RJ' last='Brown'] make ECHS even more dangerous.   Glynn Academy will have to navigate losses to graduation, but they are the main returning challenger in this region, dropping their matchups to Brunswick and Effingham County by 7 combined points a year ago.   South Effingham is a strong breakout candidate, returning most of its core on offense, including leading rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1956760' first='Khyran' last='White'] and QB Liam Coburn, who started as a freshman in 2025.   Greenbrier, Bradwell Institute, and Lakeside Evans won't have enough wins across the board for everyone, but all were young in critical areas and return production from a year ago, so all three have a chance to be improved, even if the W/L record remains stagnant.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Region 2</h2>   Projected Order of Finish   1. Thomas County Central   2. Lee County   3. Houston County   4. Coffee   5. Tift County   6. Northside, Warner Robins   7. Veterans   Preseason Accolades   Offensive Preseason POTY: '27 Lee County WR [player_tooltip player_id='378394' first='Jaden' last='Upshaw']   Defensive Preseason POTY: '27 Coffee DB [player_tooltip player_id='2047497' first='Kadrien' last='Wooten']   Preseason LOTY: '27 Northside-Warner Robins DL [player_tooltip player_id='1647177' first='Elijah' last='Patmon']   Summary   This is a loaded region at the top with a true three-headed monster in Thomas County Central, Houston County, and Lee County.   TCCHS is coming off a state championship season, and returns production and talent from that team, including the likes of '27 WR [player_tooltip player_id='487904' first='Jabari' last='Watkins'], '27 EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='487902' first='Isaac' last='Andrews'], '27 EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='487903' first='Isaiah' last='Andrews'], '28 DL Prince Che, '28 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1234642' first='Deandra' last='Andrews'], and '27 DB Kobe Carnage. In steps transfer QB [player_tooltip player_id='1626146' first='Aidan' last='McPherson'], who will pair up with '28 Rodge Waldrop to make what is the best QB room in the state, at least on paper. Highly productive seniors made their exodus to CFB after last year, but this team is loaded with talent and will naturally have the chance to backfill and reload.   Picking between Houston County and Lee County is a challenge. Houston County returns their QB, leading rusher, and a talented stable of pass catchers, as well as a potent offensive front. Lee County brings back a bulk of their talent from a year ago, and in steps transfer QB [player_tooltip player_id='1234800' first='Trey' last='Byrd'] to stabilize the ship. This is as narrow as it gets, and regardless of how it shakes out, both teams are built for 8+ regular season wins and are equipped to make a playoff push.   It's going to be another tight one between Tift County and Coffee. Tift County navigated their brutal region to a 3-7 record, but the schedule lightens up slightly, and I am intrigued with some of the talent on this group, especially '27 UAB WR commit Daijon Hayes, who I think could be the steal of the class. Coffee's returning combination of DB [player_tooltip player_id='2047497' first='Kadrien' last='Wooten'], RB Bobby Reybolds, and EDGE Jasiah McRae is intriguing, and I think their depth is what will tell the story in some close games.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Region 3</h2>   Projected Order of Finish   1. Tri-Cities   Preseason Accolades   Preseason OPOTY: '27 Creekside RB [player_tooltip player_id='2100182' first='Gary' last='Walker']   Preseason DPOTY: '27 Creekside LB [player_tooltip player_id='1158137' first='Tavarre' last='Terrell']   Preseason LOTY: '27 Creekside DT [player_tooltip player_id='1586580' first='Cassius' last='Burch']   Summary   Langston Hughes finished undefeated and won this region a year ago, but in steps Creekside as a top challenger, who went 15-0 with some of the most dominating football you will ever see in HSFB from start to finish.   Creekside will have to replace one of the most productive QBs in the state, but [player_tooltip player_id='2100182' first='Gary' last='Walker'] returns after rushing for over 1600 yards last year. Their top 2 leading receivers are gone, but [player_tooltip player_id='2079860' first='Armani' last='Hill'] averaged nearly 30 yards a catch last fall. Defensively, this team was the most disruptive defense possibly in the country last fall, and most of their production is back from a year ago. According to MaxPreps, Creekside returns 74.5 (!) sacks from a year ago. Hughes went on a run of their own last year, winning 12 in a row, including 9 blowout wins, until they were cut down by 1 possession against Gainesville in the playoffs. Productive players return on defense for Hughes, but an overwhelming amount of talent exits on offense, including their QB and P4 talent at RB. [player_tooltip player_id='425355' first='Prince' last='Amari Aminu'] has been a popular QB name since he was a youngster, and he is someone to watch as a potential X factor. There are a handful of teams that don't rebuild; they reload. I would consider Hughes one of those teams, and that is what they'll have to rely on to match last year's success.   Woodward Academy should also be considered a challenger. I am a huge fan of '27 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1698136' first='Ryan' last='Harrigan'], and think he takes another step this fall. Leading rusher [player_tooltip player_id='2236572' first='Princeton' last='Woods'] is back, but they'll have to replace a stable of receivers. [player_tooltip player_id='2042343' first='Elijah' last='Lyles'] is back as a versatile leader of the defense, as is [player_tooltip player_id='2105311' first='Jack' last='Wilson'], who had 19 TFLs last year. '27 [player_tooltip player_id='1602268' first='Bryce' last='Woods'] is a VT commit at DB, and '28 [player_tooltip player_id='2225366' first='Langston' last='Hakeem'] had 6 INTs last fall, pairing with 6 from Woods to make an elite duo on the back end. Watch out for Woodward; they can make some real noise, even with a tougher schedule.   Newnan went 8-2 in this region last year, and while it gets tougher, they have returning talent to make some noise. [player_tooltip player_id='1544909' first='Brodie' last='Campbell'], a GT QB commit, leads this offense along with high-profile '28 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1652985' first='John' last='Matthews'] and '27 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1658577' first='Jaylen' last='Britt']. On defense, [player_tooltip player_id='1524561' first='Ashton' last='Lawless'] is a one-man wrecking crew and another P4 talent. The depth might not be at the level of the big three in the region, but the flashes of talent should push them into the playoff field yet again.   Lovejoy is entering a new era, but Gideon Taiwo, a UGA EDGE commit, gives them some firepower and game-breaking ability on defense. They are strong at RB, LB, and have good legs at QB. They should be able to run the ball well, defend the run well, and push their 6-win total from last year into this new era.   McIntosh, Northside-Columbus, Morrow, and Tri-Cities round off the region. Should anyone from that list emerge, watch out for McIntosh. I like [player_tooltip player_id='2143618' first='Dallas' last='Ward'] and Maurice Swoope on defense, and would identify '28 RB Julian Love as a potential breakout.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Region 4</h2>   Projected Order of Finish   1. Shiloh   2. Dunwoody   3. Chamblee   4. Decatur   5.Lakeside-DeKalb   6. Heritage-Conyers   7. Midtown   8. Meadowcreek   9. Alcovy   Preseason Accolades   Offensive Preseason POTY: '28 Chamblee QB [player_tooltip player_id='951325' first='Brayden' last='Doss']   Defensive Preseason POTY: '27 Shiloh DB [player_tooltip player_id='1684262' first='Israel' last='Prince-Oyakhire']   Preseason LOTY: '27 Midtown DE [player_tooltip player_id='2048380' first='Mylik' last='Benoit']   Summary   From top to bottom, this is one of the hardest regions to predict. Shiloh returns as the favorite, which they deserve following a 6-1 region record a year ago. Dunwoody, Chamblee, and Decatur will hang around, and the bottom teams in the region will also be separated by thin margins. Expect consequential games weekly from these teams.   Shiloh will have to replace most of their offensive production from a year ago, but what they return on defense gives them the highest floor in this region. [player_tooltip player_id='1684262' first='Israel' last='Prince-Oyakhire'], a UAB commit, is one of the premier 2027 DBs in the state, and he played like it a year ago. [player_tooltip player_id='2143607' first='Taycen' last='Roberts'], [player_tooltip player_id='2156218' first='Justin' last='Harris'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1649716' first='Tyrell' last='Dorsey'] are other returning contributors on defense to keep an eye out for. I have a lot of confidence in Chamblee to improve their 4-win total from a year ago. [player_tooltip player_id='951325' first='Brayden' last='Doss'] is the leading passer and rusher on this team. He returns, and nobody in this region is more critical to his team's success than him. He holds a reported 6 D1 offers and runs sub-11 seconds in the 100M.   Dunwoody and Decatur will be there every step of the way. Dunwoody has the best OL in the region in 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2189170' first='Grant' last='Pearch']. [player_tooltip player_id='2225518' first='Bradley' last='Stephens'] is the team's returning leader as a rusher and receiver, making him one of the most dynamic players in this region. They return their top 2 leaders in sacks from last year in '27 Jayden White and '28 [player_tooltip player_id='1970717' first='Darius' last='Hall']. '28 CB Duke White is a legitimate college prospect as a DB. This team looks physical, has depth, and is built to grind out wins. Decatur returns proven production on defense, but the X factor is QB. '27 Jensen Kaivani returns, which gifts Decatur the gift of continuity and experience at signal-caller.   You can mix and match 5-9 in this region, and just like the top, any combination can have a strong argument. There aren't enough wins to go around, but watch out for Heritage-Conyers; many of their returners are young and battle-tested against elite competition, so even if they're a year away, a jump could be made soon. Lakeside has [player_tooltip player_id='2157619' first='Seth' last='Williams'], the best overall prospect in the region. Midtown has [player_tooltip player_id='2048380' first='Mylik' last='Benoit'], a one-man wrecking crew who beat QBs to a pulp last year, finishing with 24 sacks.
