The Tigers suffered through three straight losing seasons from 2022-2024 and they were ready for a new chapter to unfold and there was a lot of belief that Hill was the guy to make it happen. A challenging schedule in the first month saw Broken Arrow start the year with a 2-2 record, with a loss in the district opener to Owasso. From there, the Tigers wouldn't lose again in the regular season. In fact, they were rather dominant throughout the rest of the district slate. They beat every team by double digits in the final six weeks. That included a 29-10 win over rival Union, followed by a 29-17 win over Edmond Memorial. The regular season came to an end with the Tigers holding onto an 8-2 record. The only losses were to Owasso and Fayetteville on the road in overtime. After a first round bye, the Tigers hosted Mustang in the 6A-1 quarterfinals. They beat the Broncos back in week two 21-14. But Mustang was missing their star quarterback for that one and the quarterfinals could have been more competitive. They weren't. Broken Arrow took care of business, winning 29-14 to punch their ticket to the semifinals for the first time since 2021. They would see the king of the mountain in an afternoon game the day after Thanksgiving. Reigning champion Bixby stood in between the Tigers and the state championship game. Turnovers crushed Broken Arrow's hopes at the upset and Bixby would win going away before capturing another state championship. The Tigers went 9-3 after winning 12 games in the previous three seasons combined. It was clear that Broken Arrow is back in the mix as a consistent contender in Class 6A-1 football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2025 football season was the start of a new era and Broken Arrow fans are hoping that 2026 leads them back to the mountain top of 6A-1 football. The Tigers come into this season once again as a top five team in the preseason and one of the serious contenders to win the state championship. Now, we know the story in Class 6A-1. Everyone is chasing Bixby and the Tigers will get their shot at them defending champs towards the end of the regular season. But this Tiger team looks like it has what it takes to win it all. With six returning starters on offense, including a lot of production from the skill positions and a major out-of-state quarterback that joined them this spring, Broken Arrow could be one of the better offenses in 6A-1. Defensively, they bring back seven starters and they'll need to find some new faces in the front seven, but the secondary is hands down the best in the state. You look at the guys they have back there and it's a collection of talent that you won't find anywhere else. Every single starter in the Broken Arrow secondary has a chance to play high level college football. That's rare. The expectation is to contend for the state championship this season. The goal is to win the whole thing and the Tigers won't be satisfied with anything less. On paper, they certainly have what it takes to get the job done but as we say time and time again in these previews, championships aren't won on paper in the preseason. The Tigers will be battle-tested in the first half of their schedule this season. He moved over to Broken Arrow last spring and helped the Tigers make it to the semifinals in 2025. There is a lot of potential for Brown to take another step forward this season. He's a really solid cornerback and his athletic ability isn't something that should be questioned. Smith followed that up by starting for the Tigers right away on a very talented offensive line. Now, Smith has a year under his belt and he's going to go into this season not looking like a typical sophomore. Smith is moving over to left tackle and he is already considered one of the state's best offensive linemen, regardless of class. Smith proved last season that he belongs, despite being a freshman in 6A-1. First off, Williams tore it up this offseason. He was one of the best playmakers we watched in person on our 7v7 circuit. Then in the spring, Williams had a really strong performance at the Bixby team camp. College coaches are already sold on him as he already has multiple P4 offers. Williams has all the makings of being Broken Arrow's big play threat at the wide receiver position. We think that Gillespie is one of the state's best at that position and he continues to climb the list for 2027 prospects overall. Gillespie is yet another defensive back that makes Broken Arrow so lethal in the secondary. After a fantastic junior season, we can't wait to see what Gillespie does for an encore. The expectations are high and he has the potential to raise the bar. Lang spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Muskogee and moved over to Broken Arrow in the 2025 offseason. Lang is back, ready to have a greater impact on what Broken Arrow does on offense. We've seen Lang quite a bit over the last three years and he's not a player that is lacking athleticism. He gives the Tigers a true weapon that can help them in a variety of ways. But the thing that stood out the most last season was his ability to do the dirty work. In our opinion, Loadholt is one of the state's best offensive linemen and he's definitely one of the top interior offensive linemen, regardless of class. Getting our first look at Loadholt this spring, it's not surprising that he already looks like he has control of the Broken Arrow offensive line. This is a very technical offensive lineman with a high on-field IQ. He started for Jenks as a freshman and sophomore and then moved over to Broken Arrow a little over a year ago. Stanford is going to come into this season as one of the state's unquestioned best players, regardless of class. Stanford has been a special athlete since his freshman season and he's only gotten better. Last year, Stanford was an impact player for Broken Arrow on offense, defense and special teams. The Tigers added a future D1 quarterback this offseason from out of state. [player_tooltip player_id='1686398' first='Shamar' last='Banner'] moved into Oklahoma from Georgia, where he was one of the better QB prospects in their 2027 class, with a handful of offers from P4 programs. We got our first look at Banner in early June and he's a player that passes the eye test. He gives Broken Arrow a true dual-threat weapon at the QB position but he has a rocket arm. And with the weapons that Broken Arrow has at wide receiver, Banner could be one of the bigger breakout stars in 6A-1 this season. This has been a series that has been very kind to the Tigers over the last few seasons. In each of the last two meetings, the Tigers walked away with 21-point victories and they'll look to continue that in 2026.<br><strong>Sept. 4th - AT Union</strong><br>- The Tigers will hit the road for the first time in 2026 with a short drive over to Union in week one. Broken Arrow prevailed over the Redhawks 29-10 last year and that snapped a 7-game losing streak to Union. These two teams were district opponents the last two seasons but now we're back to non-district match-ups.<br><strong>Sept. 11th - Owasso</strong><br>- Non-district play wraps up with a week two home game against Owasso. The Tigers are hungrier than ever to find success against the Rams after they've dropped the last four meetings to Owasso and eight of the last nine. That includes last year's 28-14 setback in the district opener against the Rams.<br><strong>Sept. 25th - AT Norman North</strong><br>- District play begins in week four with a road trip to Norman North to square off with the Timberwolves. These two teams have been district opponents in each of the last four years and the Tigers started to turn the momentum around in this series last year. They won 43-14 and that snapped a three-game losing streak.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 2nd - Edmond Memorial</strong><br>- The Tigers will close out the first half of the regular season at home against Edmond Memorial. Last year, the Tigers prevailed 29-17 over the Bulldogs and they've had a major advantage in this series over the last 15 years. They're 9-1 against the Bulldogs, with the only loss coming late in the 2024 regular season.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 9th - AT Westmoore</strong><br>- Broken Arrow heads west once again in week six to square off with Westmoore. These two teams have been district opponents every year since 2012 and this is a series that has been very favorable to the Tigers. They've won 12 of those 13 meetings, including the last two, where they won both by an average of 40 points.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 15th - Mustang</strong><br>- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Broken Arrow will host Mustang as these two go from non-district opponents to district foes. They met in non-district play in each of the last two years, splitting the two meetings. Broken Arrow also got the best of the Broncos in the 6A-1 quarterfinals a year ago.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 23rd - Southmoore</strong><br>- The Tigers host Southmoore in week eight and they'll welcome the Sabercats back to 6A-1 after Southmoore spent the last two seasons in 6A-2. In the two seasons prior to Southmoore being in 6A-2, (2022 and 2023) Broken Arrow met the Sabercats twice and won both meetings by 39 points or more.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 30th - AT Bixby</strong><br>- The Tigers have had this one circled since the end of the 2025 season. Broken Arrow will visit the defending champs in week nine. The Tigers lost to Bixby in the 6A-1 semifinals a year ago and they certainly haven't forgotten how that felt. They've met three times in the last four years and are 0-3 against the Spartans.<br><strong>Nov. 5th - AT Edmond North</strong><br>- The regular season comes to a close in week ten with another trip to the OKC area and a match-up with Edmond North. We find this stat crazy to believe just with the limited teams in 6A-1. And he felt like the guy for the job for a few different reasons. First off, he was familiar with the Tiger program, having been the defensive coordinator on the 2018 state championship team. Second, he had a knack for turning programs around in a hurry. In Hill's first season as Muskogee's head coach in 2021, they went 2-8 but followed that up with a 33-5 record and a 6A-2 state title in 2023 and runner up finish in 2024. Broken Arrow hasn't been back to the state championship game since they won it all in 2018. Hill and the Tigers didn't ease into things either. They immediately won and won at a high level last season. After three straight losing seasons, Broken Arrow went 9-3 and made it to the semifinals, where they lost to eventual state champion Bixby. On paper, that looks like a major bounce back season. But if you ask people around the Broken Arrow program, they weren't satisfied and are hungrier than ever for more.
