7A Region 7 Preview: Returning Production A Critical Factor

This will be a fun, perhaps underrated region to keep track of in the highest classification of ball.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2025 Standings</h2>   North Gwinnett 12-2 (7-0)   Brookwood 9-3 (6-1)   Peachtree Ridge 7-4 (5-2)   Norcross 6-5 (4-3)   Parkview 4-6 (3-4)   Duluth 4-6 (2-5)   Berkmar 0-10 (0-7)   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key Returners</h2>   Berkmar    Quay Purdy is the most intriguing prospect on this team, evidenced with an offer from Georgia State last month. Purdy is a well-developed player, beyond his years physically, around 5'10 195. He has the natural ability to power through tacklers, and he runs hard to squeeze the most out of each rep. He flashes as a pass catcher, specifically in the check-down game. There is reason to believe this kid should develop well over the next few years.    Brookwood    Chatman, committed to Auburn, is coming off a breakout fall campaign at Brookwood. He is a smaller, athletic signal caller with a smooth, natural pace as a passer. He has a quick release with natural arm talent. He is capable of mixing up speeds on the ball and moving it up and down based on the throw. More experience means he will grow when it comes to timing, but regardless, there is a lot to like about Chatman, who is in line to play SEC ball.     Brookwood terrorized opposing QBs last fall, and Baltimore returns as the leading pass rusher from a year ago. Baltimore is a shorter, explosive prospect built to bull rush and break the will of offenses. What he lacks in length, he makes up for in explosiveness, quickness, and fight at the point of attack. He plays both ways and is physical on both sides of the ball, but make no mistake, he is a true defender and should get a crack at the FBS level.    Duluth    Ashford, the leading receiver for Duluth ago, is the playmaker to watch this fall for the Wildcats. Ashford is a small, true mismatch as a YAC threat. He is quick to his top gear, holds it, and maintains it when he changes direction. He makes violent cuts to jump across the face of defenders and get himself out of contested areas. His money will be made as a playmaker in space, and small schools need to keep that in mind when signing 2027 receivers out of GA.     Enterline plays both ways for Duluth, but will project best as a safety. He is a long, lean, raw athlete at 6'2 180. He was all over the field last fall for Duluth, producing at each level from his safety spot. He is a patient, willing downhill pursuer of the ball. He has good footwork in coverage and uses his length to tie up receivers at the top of their routes. Enterline is picking up small school attention, but with his upside, it wouldn't shock me to see some late D1 buzz.    Norcross    Noel-Saint returns as the leading receiver for Norcross. Last year, he proved capable of working inside and out, even if his size will knock him inside to the slot long term. He proves capable of mixing up pace and looks in his routes, which he pairs with efficient footwork. For a smaller receiver, he flashes strong hands and can make catches in a crowd, even if he isn't a true jump ball threat. There's not much recruiting buzz yet, but as camp season progresses, he should jump on the radar of small schools.     There's not much out there on Allen, but he had a productive fall and returns as the most active defender for Norcross. Allen plays the LB role for Norcross, but at his size, a move to S makes sense, where he can contribute as a box safety. He is a long player who uses his length as a tackler. He will get better at the POA as he fills out. He leverages the ball well as he pursues. Allen is a run-and-chase defender who will play a critical role for Norcross this fall.    North Gwinnett    Rahman broke out last year and was quietly one of the more efficient QBs in Georgia as a junior. Rahman is a stout, well-oiled QB prospect with smooth mechanics and better arm talent than you would expect. He threw 20 TDs against just 2 INTs as a junior. North Gwinnett ran through their schedule a year ago, so if competition can stiffen and force Rahman to play into the fourth quarter, we will get an even better feel for his moxy.     Jones, who is committed to play at Cincy, will anchor the offensive front this fall for North Gwinnett. Jones has always had no problem tossing around and toying with defenders, even as his mass was still coming along. Now, that part of his game has only grown with him. He has plenty of pop off the line as a run blocker and will punch defenders in the mouth. He runs his feet hard at contact and remains physical throughout the rep. He is a true IOL, possibly C projection, who can carve out space in the middle of the front.    Parkview    Mullins, who recently committed to Kennesaw State, returns after carving out a role as a premier RB in the state. He is a long, lean RB at 6'0 200 with space to easily get to 215. He is a patient, elusive back who locates running lanes early, where he then flashes enough twitch to take advantage. He is a steady, no-nonsense runner, staying on his path and not wasting time trying to dance. He is a cloud of dust runner and has a high floor as a contributor.     [player_tooltip player_id='942052' first='Jaleel' last='Parham'] plays on both sides of the ball for Parkview, returning as their leading receiver while contributing all over the field as a defender. He will project out as a DB, where his physicality at the line and throughout the route process consistently draws my praise. He is capable of playing above the rim at 5'10, and reps on offense add more context to his ability to track and play the ball. On both sides of the ball, Parham is a hinge for Parkview, and he has generated D1 buzz consistently all offseason.    Peachtree Ridge    Macon quietly returns as a top playmaker on defense for Peachtree Ridge and has a knack for generating negative plays. He is a long, lean S prospect with room to add weight. He is a smooth, fundamentally sound player who always floats around the top of routes. His ball skills are impressive, evidenced by 5 INTs and several fumble recoveries. He is a functional athlete, but it's his ability to stay in position and the nose for the football that sets everything else up.     Paramore, committed to Mercer, is coming off a breakout junior season and is a leader on this team. I initially thought he would stick off the ball, but added weight gives me more confidence he will project as an EDGE rusher. He is a functional athlete with good play strength at the POA, consistently pressing and creating separation against blockers. He is a capable edge setter who can run through blockers and cut off angles for ball carriers. He is a fine athlete who pursues hard, and that motor will be where he makes money as a pass rusher. There is more of a physical edge to his game, which will translate regardless of where he sticks positionally.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">X Factors</h2>   Brookwood    Tyson, committed to South Carolina, has been a mainstay on the recruiting trail since his 8th grade years. He is an absolute hammer, hovering closer to 230-240 with a FB-like frame. He is a good athlete with speed to generate explosives, at least at that size. But as you could expect, his ability to power through and wear down defenses is where his money will be made. These guys don't come around often, and when they do, they are obvious mismatches and X factors at the HS level.    Duluth    As it stands today, it looks like Luckett will be thrown right into the fire and handle QB duties for Duluth. After watching his spring game tape, he is certainly equipped from a traits perspective to push the ball downfield. He is a tall, lean QB with a lot of space to get bigger. He gets the ball out quickly, and when he can get his feet under him and rare back, he shows the ability to rip the ball with some impressive velocity. He is a new name, but he will play a big role this fall in Duluth's success.    Norcross    A pair of offers has Fairley on the radar headed into his senior season. At his spot, with his ability to impact the QB, he should be viewed as an X factor. He should be viewed as more of a physical edge setter than a true pass rusher, but he does fight hard at the point of attack. He has the ability to control the point with his hands and pull himself into the backfield. He plays hard, has some pop at the POA, and has a chance to elevate the defense for Norcross this year.    North Gwinnett    Ford jumped on my radar last spring, and since then, his recruitment has been on a rocket ship that has surpassed over 2 dozen offers. He had a pretty ridiculous year against the ball as a junior, totaling over 20 PBUs and adding 4 INTs. He is a big corner with the size and length to get physical, but he is best working with cushion. He mirrors receivers beautifully at the top of routes, flashing the footwork and ability to decelerate and drive on the ball. He is sticky in coverage, so I think he will stick at corner long term.     Brown, committed to Clemson, is a rare traits prospect who has held steady as a premier OL prospect in Georgia. He is an obvious OT projection, coming in at all of 6'6 with a big chunk of physical development still left. He is a raw player, but his combination of length and athleticism gives him the chance to boom. He is an easy eval, improves each year, and has the bottle of traits that could lead to the NFL if he can season and develop properly. Brown is one of the biggest dreamers in the 2027 class.    Peachtree Ridge    Palmer has emerged as a popular WR prospect in GA, and several Peachtree Ridge receivers have graduated, so the opportunity is there for Palmer to step in seamlessly as the top option. Palmer is a loose, soft-footed athlete who can bounce around and throw unpredictable moves at DBs. For his size, he plays pretty big, showcasing his patience, hands, and body control to make catches in a crowd. Palmer is an obvious candidate to break through as a true go-to threat this fall.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Region Risers</h2>    Pfister is a young, rising corner for Brookwood with FBS offers already under his belt. He is a lean, cut, still youthful 6'1 162 who is still growing into himself. Pfister is a feisty, energetic defender with the foot speed and twitch to carry routes and fly around the field. He will get physical, and he plays hard, which will only benefit his growth as he continues to develop and realize his potential.     This kid is electric and a truly fun watch. He is a wiry two-way player with absolutely elite speed. He is a 10.5 runner in the 100M with GPS times around the 23 MPH mark. Turn on the tape, and even with sparing production, this dude can absolutely scoot. If given a lane to run, he is truly impossible to catch, and he maintains that speed over longer distances. He has yet to fully make his mark on varsity, so as that happens and more exposure comes his way, I refuse to believe there's a world where he doesn't generate some high-level attention.     Keep a close eye on this North Gwinnett rising junior. He is set for a breakout this fall and already holds a handful of D1 offers. He is a long, lean, raw athlete who is just tipping the iceberg in his development. He is a big target at 6'3 who can rip through cushion and act as a mismatch down the field. As he adds more nuance and learns how to tap into different speeds, his game should round off and continue garnering attention from D1 schools.     [player_tooltip player_id='2077214' first='JJ' last='Brown'] is the hot prospect on the OL for Parkview, but Davis looks like he is equipped to be the next in line to receive some D1 attention. He is raw, but he carries his weight well and has room to get bigger. Technique and nuance are developing, but what isn't developing is the violence and motor he plays with. He works hard to stay engaged, and when he senses defenders are in compromising spots, he smells blood in the water and violently finishes reps. Davis has the makings of an exciting player.     Hadley is starting to emerge as a premier DB prospect out of Parkview, and it's a matter of time before major programs get involved. He is fully capable of matching and carrying routes, but I love the way he comes downhill to leverage and attack the football, especially at his size. He is still taking shape as a prospect, but I think he will stick at safety long-term, and I don't suspect that Arkansas State will be the last offer reported here.     Bell tacked on several FBS offers this spring, which got the ball rolling in his recruitment. He is slightly on the shorter side for a corner, but compensates for it in other ways. He has good footwork and is a sudden athlete, helping him match and mirror the top of routes. He is fast enough to carry routes vertically and comes downhill to aggressively attack the ball. He plays hard, so if he gets knocked inside to play nickel, he should handle those responsibilities well. Regardless, he is a well-rounded, quality prospect.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Contenders</h2>   North Gwinnett   North Gwinnett ran through this region with a 7-0 record last fall, and they should be viewed as the contenders, yet again. This was a junior-led team a year ago, returning rising seniors at QB, RB, 3/4 leading receivers, a P4 commit on the OL, leading tackler and leader [player_tooltip player_id='1096397' first='Jake' last='Godfree'], 3/5 sack leaders, and a premier DB prospect in [player_tooltip player_id='1397856' first='Bryson' last='Ford']. There's not a whole lot to dive into here. This team was elite a year ago, and most of the production and talent from that squad is back, making a logical next step to the state championship game a real possibility.   Brookwood   Brookwood finished a game behind North Gwinnett a year ago, and emerges as the main challenger, once again. Auburn commit Gary Chatman returns at QB after a breakout year. His battery mate at RB, [player_tooltip player_id='474084' first='Brayden' last='Tyson'], is also an SEC commit, and he sets the stage offensively and is the motor for this squad. Those two alone are reasons to be bullish on this team, but there is talent elsewhere to step up and support, specifically, on defense with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='1591507' first='Unitas' last='Baltimore'], Xavier Pfister, and [player_tooltip player_id='1201849' first='Julian' last='Elzey'].   Brookwood will once again be neck and neck with North Gwinnett in this region, and in their own right, they are also equipped to make a deep push into the playoffs.
