Gary Chatman Jr.
Gary Chatman Jr.
About Gary
Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Chatman, committed to Auburn, is coming off a breakout fall campaign at Brookwood. He is a smaller, athletic signal caller with a smooth, natural pace as a passer. He has a quick release with natural arm talent. He is capable of mixing up speeds on the ball and moving it up and down based on the throw. More experience means he will grow when it comes to timing, but regardless, there is a lot to like about Chatman, who is in line to play SEC ball.

is one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the nation, as he has quickly started to become a fan favorite recruit for teams that need a dual-threat quarterback. His IQ when running the ball is extremely high, as he is great at knowing how to cut, along with knowing how to sell where he is and isn’t going with defenders in front or around him. One of the best parts of his game is knowing how to be a leader and a veteran, which is something I saw him do live last season. He was excellent in his play calling, and is an excellent player as a whole. Keep an eye on Chatman Jr.

is one of Georgia’s best quarterbacks and this year within the talented 2027 quarterback group, Chatman Jr. will look to have an amazing season in 2026 with his all-around ability to make plays behind center. He can make the difference plays for his team and that will help them separate themselves. He is going to have a special season, and it all starts now and this summer for this talented 2027 signal caller.

is easily one of the better option quarterbacks in the class of 2027, and he is one of the better players when it comes to the dual-threat factor. Chatman Jr. is going to be one of the better players in the country when it comes to leading an offense from the huddle to the line of scrimmage. He is a game manager, but he can flip the game on its head. I believe Chatman Jr. is going to have a great deal of weapons around him, and because of that, the Brookwood program is one I am watching closely.

Another mobile quarterback on the rise with plenty of arm talent, Chatman Jr. is a metro-Atlanta quarterback in Gwinnett County who has earned multiple Power Four offers this year and should see his Prep Redzone ranking increase in the latest update. He’s a good athlete, shows impressive ball placement vertically, and create havoc with his legs on the ground. This promising passer is coming off a strong junior season where he made plays with both his arm and legs. The 6-foot-0 200-pounder is now ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 10 QB prospect in the state for his class.

It’s been a big offseason for Chatman, who emerged as one of the breakout QBs in the state this winter on the recruiting trail. He won’t blow you away traits-wise, but he is a smooth operator and can sling the ball around the yard better than you’d think. Quick, clean mechanics who can tap into different velocities and trajectories. I am expecting Chatman to double down on his productive junior season as a senior.

It has been a huge offseason for Chatman, coming off his breakout junior season. You wouldn’t expect it at his size, but this kid is a big-time arm talent. Quick, clean, efficient mechanics, and he easily rifles the ball off his hand. He can tap into different trajectories and drops in beautiful throws down the field. He is a good enough athlete to be considered a dual threat, and he is capable of making off-script plays when things break down. I see why college coaches love this kid.
