PRZMN Exposure Series: Best QBs I Saw

Switching gears from my offensive line coverage of the PRZ Minnesota Exposure Series, I'm going to break down some of the best performances from the QBs I saw during session 2 last Saturday afternoon. There were a ton of great gunslingers, but these 9 in particular jumped out at me as some of the best. Tap in!    One of the most promising athletes in the class of 2029, Mackey has a real chance to claim the coveted QB1 role for the Wayzata Trojans next fall, and based on that performance on Saturday, I like his odds. Touting a 71" wingspan, 8.75" hands, and a crazy impressive 8'11" broad jump, Mackey proved more than capable when it came to the physical demands of the position. His footwork is way cleaner than you'd ever expect out of a freshman, and his arm talent has evolved into a special one. He can hit a variety of throws and possesses one of the best deep balls in the camp. He's also extremely coachable and a very personable athlete. Don't be surprised if we continue to see Mackey climb up the recruiting rankings over the course of his high school career.     One of my personal favorite prospects from the combine, Kirchner, really solidified himself as a legit 6A QB in my eyes after his performance on Saturday. He had some solid success regarding his measurables, showing off a 72.5" wingspan, a 4.8 shuttle, and an 8' broad jump, but he really stood out once he was able to uncork his arm. I've been familiar with his game for a while now, but I dare say he's leveled up since I last saw him. Kirchner was easily one of the best QBs in attendance, hitting a variety of difficult deep balls and dropping dots into tightly contested windows downfield. He hit several razor-thin openings and had a faster release than I remember. Andover looks to have produced another solid signal caller.     Russell was one of the more physically impressive QB prospects in attendance, standing half an inch over 6'1" and weighing in just over 175 lbs, while also boasting a 77" reach and 9.75" hands. When it came to the testing, Russell was equally impressive. Russell touted a 4.88 40, a 4.48 pro-agility, an eye-catching 6.86 L-drill, and a great 9'5" broad jump, and those last two tests he fell within the top 7 for the camp. During the throwing portion of the camp, he showed off fantastic command of the ball, and I loved his touch on intermediate and deep balls. He's stepping into one of the most pass-heavy offenses in the state at Cretin-Derham Hall, so be on the lookout for Russell to thrive in that Raiders system next fall.     McNear had one of the best testing performances of any QB in attendance, and also boasted one of the best builds in the camp. Standing a hair shy of 6'4" and 180 lbs with an 82" reach and 8.75" hands, McNear had a stunning 4.75 40-yard dash, an impressive 4.58 pro-agility, and a solid 8'3" broad jump. In terms of slinging the rock, McNear was able to hit real deep balls and dot up some shorter routes, too. He fits in really well with Grand Rapids's offensive scheme, but might have a future as a scholarship-level DB at the D1 level. With two years left to develop, the sky is the limit. That Thunderhawks squad is putting together something really special, and I think a trip to the bank might be in store for them this fall.     The Mankato East QB1 was in attendance on Saturday, and after his showing, I think the Cougars could be gearing up for a big year. Boasting 9" hands, a 75" reach, a pair of 8' broad jumps, a 4.85 shuttle, and standing at a true 6'2", Willaert has a lot of physical tools to get the job done at the next level. On the field, Willaert possessed one of the best all-around skillsets while slinging the rock. He does a great job of anticipating windows and hits a number of incredibly difficult spots outside of the hashes deep downfield. He was able to reliably place the ball where only the receiver could catch it, and placed a number of passes right where you'd want to hit a wideout. I really like Willaert's upside, and I'm pumped to watch him ball this fall.     An exciting stock-riser out of the class of 2028, West was another fantastic tester who fits right into that Eagan offensive scheme. He recorded one of the fastest 40-yard dashes at the combine, a 4.65 (4th), as well as an electric shuttle time of 4.30 (4th) and an impressive 9' broad jump (11th). The four-sport athlete (Football/Wrestling/Track/Lacrosse) also had his moments when throwing during 1v1s. He's got a decent arm and hit a few intermediate routes that caught my attention throughout the afternoon. His athleticism and general athletic versatility would allow him to play a ton of different positions at the next level, and with testing numbers like that, I think we'll see West evolve into a scholarship-level athlete.     Harris is a 2027 athlete who needs more looks ahead of his senior season. Every single one of his tests was in the top 11 for the session, including a 4.78 40 (11th), a shocking 4.29 shuttle (2nd), a great 6.84 L-drill (5th), and a solid 8'11" broad jump (9th). He also had a shocking 9.75" hand measurement. Harris has previously played both QB and WR, and with that level of athletic upside, the sky might be the limit for where and what he plays after his senior campaign. I'll be waiting to see what he does this fall, including if he takes over that Rogers QB1 spot.     Zauhar is widely regarded as not only one of the best QBs in his class, but one of the best prospects in the state as a whole. He validated that ranking with his performance last Saturday afternoon. Touting a very impressive 80" wingspan and 9" hands, Zauhar also recorded a 4.8 40-yard dash, an eye-catching 4.38 shuttle, and a solid 8'7" broad jump. During the 1v1s, however, he really began to shine. Zauhar throws a fantastic deep ball and throws a tight spiral. He can put plenty of air under a pass when needed, but can also crank missiles for shorter to intermediate routes. Expect Zauhar to be a frontrunner for the now-open QB1 role for the Spartans, and pay close attention to the red-hot soon-to-be junior prospect.     A returning starter at QB for Richfield, Woods is looking to truly break out during his junior year, and he's on the right track after last Saturday. Coming in at just over 5'11" and weighing 187 lbs, Woods also boasts 9.25" hands, which round out his solid physical traits. When he was testing, Woods ran a 4.92 40, a 4.77 shuttle, and a solid 8'8" broad jump. I really liked how he was able to hit tight windows lined up against the sideline, and Woods does a great job of leading wideouts on deep balls. He had a great "next throw" mentality, and even when he missed a window he was able to double down on the next rep and dot up his receiver. With two years left leading Richfield's offense, the strides he could continue to make could be very interesting.
