I’ve seen all I need to see from Grand Rapids’ 2028 standout Logan McNear; this kid is a D1 prospect! The kid certainly caught and held PRZMN’s attention at last summer’s Bemidji State Big School War on the Shore camp, McNear is a tall drink of water, and boy is he dynamic. Running the Thunderhawks triple-option attack from the QB spot, McNear is an explosive big-play threat who can take the rock the distance any and every touch, and I was absolutely thrilled by the size/athleticism combination he put up in-person at the PRZMN Spring Showcase. Verified at 6’3.75″, 177 lbs., with a 82″ wing and 9″ hands, McNear popped off a blazing 4.75 laser 40, followed by a 4.58 shuttle and 8’3 broad for a frankly mouth-watering combination of size, length, and room to grow + fill in. Additionally, McNear’s arm pops and can really stretch the field with effectiveness, he’s accurate off-platform, and he can generate some serious zip and torque on his throws to the first and second levels of the gridiron, putting some difficult throws on a rope throughout 1v1s. Plus, he’s explosive as a ball carrier, with toughness, quickness, physicality, and game-breaking speed. I think if Mcnear is willing to play SAF or LB at the next level he can take things as far as he wants them to go. Buy stock now!

McNear had one of the best testing performances of any QB in attendance, and also boasted one of the best builds in the camp. Standing a hair shy of 6’4″ and 180 lbs with an 82″ reach and 8.75″ hands, McNear had a stunning 4.75 40-yard dash, an impressive 4.58 pro-agility, and a solid 8’3″ broad jump. In terms of slinging the rock, McNear was able to hit real deep balls and dot up some shorter routes, too. He fits in really well with Grand Rapids’s offensive scheme, but might have a future as a scholarship-level DB at the D1 level. With two years left to develop, the sky is the limit. That Thunderhawks squad is putting together something really special, and I think a trip to the bank might be in store for them this fall.

Even playing for a run-heavy team with at least 4 players that amassed over 400+ rushing yards last season,

‘s upside as a passer is so prevalent that he should likely get a bump up in reps as he enters his junior season. Mcnear finished with 580 passing yards, 7 TDs, and 1 INT while rushing for a team-high 765 yards (9.6 YPC) and 16 TDs. His throw in the state semifinal round against Kasson-Mantorville where he hit a 72 yard TD throwing cross-body and finding his receiver in stride still stands out to me today, and it’s worth noting he nearly led the team to a comeback-tie in the final 2 minutes of the game down 16 and coming a 2-point conversion away from tying the game. With impressive size, length, athleticism, and arm strength, Mcnear is the total package and he should be on the watchlist toward being one of the best overall players in Minnesota to watch next season.

was a standout, can’t-miss talent at this past July’s Bemidji State War on the Shore Big School Team Camp, earning a nod on the coveted All-Camp Team while showing a skillset of length, explosiveness, versatility, and overall upside. Now the Thunderhawks‘ QB1, Mcnear is running GR’s triple-option with lethal efficiency, proving himself as the team’s leading scorer with four rushing TDs and a passing TD for good measure, all while leading the Thunderhawks to a current 2-1 record with their lone loss coming to a heavyweight Bemidji program.
Possessing game-changing burst with the top-end speed to finish big runs for six and outpace those final pursuing defenders, Mcnear’s long legs equate smooth cuts, and the 6’4 athlete shows good vision and the awareness of when and where to bounce the rock outside, utilizing the whole field and really stabbing defenses when he gets to the sideline. He’s also light on his feet and elusive in the hole and in space, and can take the ball to the house on any given play. I see D1 upside and potential in this young man; hang tight on his upcoming rankings debut!
