Richfield has one of the lowkey more explosive offenses in the Metro 4A ranks this season. As with all football teams, things begin with the QB, and the Richfield Spartans have a good one in Mason Woods Mason Woods 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Richfield | 2028 State MN , who PRZMN is quite familiar with thanks to his work this offseason. Woods was a PRZMN Spring Showcase standout at the QB position and amongst a good group of peers and overall competition, and he popped off a 4.9 laser 40 and 8’8 broad jump at the Showcase to solidify himself as a dual-threat from the QB position. In his first year starting and against a Class 4A schedule, Woods went 94-183 (51.4%) for 1,201 yards and 13 TDs to 10 INTs while Richfield went 4-5 in 2025.

Woods can stretch the field with accuracy and touch and owns good footwork in and around the pocket and as a scrambler. Can evade pressure, locate his WRs downfield, set his feet while DL and LBs are bearing down on him, and rifle darts right into a WR’s breadbasket. He also has some good reps of him reading the field, working through his progressions, and making sound, accurate passes to his WRs corps. Woods is accurate off-platform, owns a quick release, and is explosive and dangerous as a ball carrier when he tucks and takes off. Woods and Dre Collins Dre Collins 6'3" | 175 lbs | DB Richfield | 2027 State MN have the makings to be one of the best QB/WR tandems in the Metro and in all of Class 4A. Pay attention!

A returning starter at QB for Richfield, Woods is looking to truly break out during his junior year, and he’s on the right track after last Saturday. Coming in at just over 5’11” and weighing 187 lbs, Woods also boasts 9.25″ hands, which round out his solid physical traits. When he was testing, Woods ran a 4.92 40, a 4.77 shuttle, and a solid 8’8″ broad jump. I really liked how he was able to hit tight windows lined up against the sideline, and Woods does a great job of leading wideouts on deep balls. He had a great “next throw” mentality, and even when he missed a window he was able to double down on the next rep and dot up his receiver. With two years left leading Richfield’s offense, the strides he could continue to make could be very interesting.

Richfield has a promising future with the potential to take a step forward over the next 2 seasons with their young signal-caller Mason Woods Mason Woods 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Richfield | 2028 State MN leading the way. Woods impressed as a sophomore, finishing with 1201 passing yards, 13 TDs, and 10 INTs while rushing for 185 yards and 3 TDs. Woods further showcased his upside during our Showcase Series event back in December, flashing his strong arm and quick zip on his passes. Woods will have plenty of time to continue building chemistry with his players to improve on his timing and placement, but there is a lot of potential to behold not just for Woods, but for Richfield’s offense as well going forward.
