Week Three Preview: Corner Canyon at Fremont

This will be a fun game. Fremont is coming off a huge comeback victory over Davis. Davis is looking to make a deep run and have a talented team on both sides of the ball. Fremont faces a stiffer task at hand with Corner Canyon this week. Corner Canyon is coming off a decisive beatdown when traveling to Florida to take out West Broward and showed the nation that Corner Canyon is one of the best teams in the nation, and proved why they're the defending 6A State champions. This exciting match-up features the top two players in our 2026 rankings. Let's break down the key players on both sides and who are names to know and watch. Fremont:    Tuatagaloa is a dual-threat quarterback, and he'll need to use his legs to keep plays and drives alive. Corner Canyon has done a good job of bringing and applying pressure from different angles and at different positions. With pressure coming from anywhere and everywhere, Tuatagaloa will need to navigate the pocket and extend plays with his legs and will need to deliver the ball to his playmakers. If he can keep his team ahead of the chains and extend drives, Fremont will go a long way to not only keeping the game close but also trying to pull off another upset.     Hadley will play a pivotal role. Fremont should try to milk the clock and slow the game down, move the chains, and take shots when the opportunity presents itself. Hadley has been an effective runner all season and has showcased that he can handle a large workload. He possesses good vision, has the speed to get to the edge, and is a runner who does well in getting small through the first level. He shows good lateral movement and can fight off contact. He'll need to convert his short yardage opportunities and move the chains for Fremont to have a shot at pulling the upset.     Parker will be a big part of the offense against Corner Canyon. He has excellent footwork, creates separation with ease, and is a player who has a knack for creating separation, high-pointing the ball, and being strong at the catch point. He wins at all three levels and will be a key part, especially with [player_tooltip player_id='717883' first='Salesi' last='Moa'] as the other receiver. Corner Canyon will have to defend both and can't shade coverage to either player. Because of that, Parker might feast with one-on-one coverage and softer zones, especially if Corner Canyon is trying to scheme up pressure. Defensively, he might be asked to play a bigger role as they'll be facing some premier receivers.     Salesi is an elite athlete, and he'll be needed on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he is a dynamic receiver and finds ways to create and get open. He is a twitchy athlete and will be needed to have an elite game, and he's a player who is up to the challenge. Defensively, he'll need to shut down his receiver that he lines up against and help slow down the Corner Canyon offense.     Palmer has been a pleasant surprise this year, and the defensive back will be a huge riser in the 2027 rankings. He's flashed great instincts, is a physical player, and someone who moves well athletically. He has a good frame and will only continue to grow into it. He's a player who is flashing and is an important piece for this Fremont defense.     Masters has been ultra productive this season and has been an active edge rusher who does well in run support as well. He has good size and a frame to add on an additional 20 lbs with ease. He is good off the line and shows good physicality in his game. He'll be tasked to create pressure and maintain gap integrity and not allow running lanes. If he can create pressure while not leaving any gaps for running lanes, he'll be a key part of the game plan to stymie the Corner Canyon offense.     Aisa has found a home on the defensive side of the ball and being a hybrid backer. I prefer him on the offensive side of the ball, but with a log jam at multiple positions on that side, he found his way on the defensive side, and as a true athlete, he's made it his home. He is a good backer who can be an attacking backer, where he can move forward and can read and react. He does well in shedding his blocks and pursuing the ball carrier. He does well in space, and when asked to be in coverage, he does a good job of disrupting passing lanes and will only get better as the season goes on. He's an exciting player who is evolving with each passing week.     Bell is an athletic cornerback who does a good job of sticking to his receiver and has good hip fluidity and side-to-side movement. He does a good job of looking back for the ball and disrupting passing lanes. He'll be tasked to cover some high-end receivers for Corner Canyon, and if he can hold up, it'll go a long way in making Fremont have a good shot of pulling an upset.    Corner Canyon:    Casuga has been ultra-efficient this season and has been effective with his arm and his legs. He put on good size this offseason, and it's paying off. Fremont is an aggressive defense, and if he can utilize his pump fake and use his eyes to manipulate the safety, it could be a big day through the air for Casuga.     Briggs is a physical, bruising power back with good vision and lateral quickness. He'll be a battering ram and will try to break down the Fremont defense. His style of play allows Corner Canyon to be balanced and frees up the receivers as defenses can't play with light boxes.     Kai is an exceptional receiver and is the go-to receiver for the offense. He has a good release, his footwork is excellent, and he creates separation and has good overall speed. He has good lateral movements, and he'll likely have shaded coverage his way against Fremont.     Johnson has emerged in the deep Corner Canyon receiving room. He is a player with good length, is good with contested catches, and showcases good hands. He is a fluid mover and gets upfield with ease.     Mayberry has been effective with the targets he's received. He is a receiver who can win at all three levels. The offense hasn't needed to use their playbook as their opening two games were in hand. Fremont adds some athletic defensive backs, and Mayberry could be the key to the game. He is a tough cover and slippery in the open field.     Landon is a big bodied athlete. He has a good frame and should get to 230 lbs with ease. Landon is a good, physical, blocker who enjoys the dirty work and will maintain and advance his positioning in those blocks. He is an athletic mover who has a good catch radius and good at the catch point, he transitions well upfield and brings a dynamic dimension that Corner Canyon hasn't had in the position for some time now.     Tafa will be a key part as Fremont has some good edge rushers, and he is an elite tackle. He is excellent off the line, moves exceptionally well, and is quick laterally. He is light on his feet and isn't bothered by bull rushers or speed rushers. He is the complete blind side tackle, and he'll play an important part in keeping the offense in rhythm.     Pearce will be tasked to clog the run game and create pressure. He has good size, can work at any of the defensive line positions and shows good quickness to be an edge rusher and has the physicality to work inside. He's been a key player thus far in the season and he'll be leaned on once again.     Otuafi as been an effective on-ball backer that has a good frame and hand fighting to disengage from his blocks. He brings good physicality and is a backer that is best when pressing forward and reacting to the ball.     Wood can be used as a backer or have his hand in the ground to be an edge rusher. He has a good first step and is a player who moves well and has good instincts. His versatility will allow him to be on the field, no matter the down and distance.     Dart is the eraser for the defense. Any mishaps or mistakes, and he'll clean it up and minimize the damage. He is an exciting athlete who can play both sides of the ball, his instincts as a defensive back is elite, and he'll look to shut down and minimize the Fremont passing attack.     Harris is best as a slot corner, but can work outside as he is a good athlete that will stick to the hip of a receiver and will make a play on the ball. He shows good tracking skills, will look back and isn't grabby. He'll look to carve out a bigger niche in the secondary.    That was our look at Corner Canyon traveling up to face Fremont.
