Canyon Cup: 14U Performers to know

One of the best parts about these 7's is watching the young crop come up. The cream rises to the top and we had some top performers. Here are the names you need to know.    Kyran has a solid frame to fill into. He's an athletic mover and a playmaker. He has pristine footwork and has good hip fluidity; he is excellent in and out of his breaks and is a receiver who runs good routes. He understands spacing, tempo, and where to sit in zone coverages; he has strong hands, has the concentration you want to see, and excels after the catch. As a defensive back, he has great instincts and will jump routes. He has a great feel and understanding of the game. He is an exciting two-way athlete who should make an impact and suit up on varsity as a freshman.     Isaia is an excellent athlete. He has great footwork, runs clean routes, is slippery in space, and is a tough cover. He does well getting vertical and is excellent in the open space, making defenders miss. He has good hip fluidity and changes direction on a dime. He is excellent at the 50/50 contested catches and makes difficult catches look easy. He is an excellent prospect and is a name to know for the upcoming season.     Sam has made tremendous strides since the summer, and each time I've seen him, he impresses me. He makes excellent reads and processes quickly. He makes every throw you want to see, stresses the ball downfield, and hits the hole shot. He knows when to throw with velocity and when to take something off and put air under it for his receivers. He does a good job of throwing his receivers open and keeping the ball out of danger. He is a fun prospect and is an excellent prospect. Should be competing for the JV spot right away.     Mack has quick processing and is not afraid to stress the defense with deep shots. He throws a good, deep ball and will fit it into tight windows. He is a signal caller who will throw his receivers open and is decisive with the ball. He's cool under pressure, has ice water in his veins, and has the moxy you want to see in a signal caller. Great upside.     Aleksio is a physical player and has good upside. He's got a natural feel for the game and as a backer, shows good footwork and does well in coverage and closes ground quickly. He uses his physicality on the offensive side during the 7's and moves well. He's got quick feet and shows good lateral movement. He's an exciting athlete for the class and was a player who made plays on both sides of the ball during the event.    Those were some of the key players in the 14U group
