What makes a top 8 QB in our rankings? Well, for the class of 2028, I can point to one elite trait for each. Our top 8 consists of multiple D1-offered players, plus, a ton of other guys who I expect to be GLIAC prospects. At the end of the day, it's the colleges who'll make the decisions, but hey, I like these guys.

Here's what I think is the best trait for our Top 8 guys.

IQ.

Tommy is a smart football player, much like his brother CJ.

Pre-play, Tommy does an excellent job scanning the field, trying to predict what the defense is up to. I even watched Tommy change a play at the line of scrimmage- something VERY rare at the high school level. I also really like Tommy's decision-making. There are times when Tommy holds onto the ball for a tad too long, but even when the play breaks down and he's forced outside the pocket, he keeps his eyes downfield and attempts to direct traffic.

That said, I expect Tommy to thrive at Miami.

Efficiency.

I love the way Jake commands the Grand Blanc offense. This is another pocket passer, and a very efficient one at that. A large number of Jake's throws are quick reads to the short-intermediate areas of the field. If he's a college prospect, scouts will probably take issue to the more "simple" passing scheme. In High School, I feel that's a giant green flag.

Not many High School QBs are great at snap, read, throw within four seconds. Of course, there are points where Jake slips up or holds onto the ball too long, but I expect even more improvement next year. Great player and one of the top guys I want to watch in person again.

Athletesism.

Jaxson is great in a lot of areas, and there's a razor-thin margin between him and the other top QBs in the class.

Without a doubt, Jaxson's greatest trait is his athletic ability. I mean, come on- he had the best 5-10-5 time in the entire Elite 11. Dude is explosive, and has the best change of direction I've ever seen in a high school quarterback. Because of this, I'd argue that Jaxson has the highest upside of any Michigan QB. I expect to see massive growth at Western Michigan- he could be an elite dual-threat in the MAC.

Accuracy.

Give Kayd a clean pocket, and he can make some amazing throws. Every time I've watched Kayd, there's been at least one "WOW" type of throw. Perfectly-placed fades, quick slants, etc- Kayd is able to make any throw. Accuracy is king for quarterbacks. I still think Kayd needs to be a little better under pressure, but the fact is that he's one of the most accurate Q's in the class. If I had to bet, I'd say Kayd is going to lead East Kentwood to a ton of success this coming season.

Intangebles.

Can't measure heart, grit, or work ethic. I'll admit that a huge reason why I have Ryland ranked so high is because of his intangibles. When I watched him against West Bloomfield, Ryland was locked in, displayed excellent leadership, and ran the ball down WB's throat to earn the victory.

Ryland then suffered an injury and remained out for the season. I then watched Adams' game against Oxford. Instead of sitting on the sideline, or goofing off, Ryland was helping coach and lead the team.

Not to mention that Ryland is the best passer I've ever seen in a Veer offense. Most QBs from this system are good runners but frankly bad passers. While Ryland doesn't have the in-game passing volume you'd like, he can still rip it better than anyone from this system. Absolute A+ from a character evaluation standpoint. This is a player who has shown tremendous improvement year after year, and I think he'll be a steal to any college looking for a QB.

Efficentcy.

Granted, I have not watched tape on Andrew in a minuite, but I remember how amazing he was during his freshman season. In the very difficult MAC Red, Andrew has consistently been a very efficient, smart passer.

I am really, really looking forward to seeing how Andrew performs with Detroit MLK. Needless to say, I'm expecting a big season from Knight.

Athletesism.

Turn on Peyton's highlight tape and tell me you aren't impressed. Peyton is a pure athlete who has major dual-threat upside at the next level. I especially like his vision, change of direction, and smoothness in the open field. Peyton looks like Lamar out there seamlessly navigating the open field, running through arm tackles, etc.

Not to mention Peyton's arm talent. Dude can sling it. Everything in my body says Peyton is a D2 prospect, but at the end of the day, it's the colleges that will make that evaluation.

Our top 8 consists of multiple D1-offered players, plus, a ton of other guys who I expect to be GLIAC prospects.
