It's the month of October and that means it's time for a prospect ranking update! Throughout this month, we'll be updating each class ranking and following up those updates with in-depth breakdowns on a ton of prospects in each class. Last week, we kicked things off with the 2028 Watchlist. This week, we continue our updates with the 2027 class. The ranking now features the Top 75 Sophomores In Oklahoma. Throughout the week, we'll also have a ton of prospect breakdowns. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at five prospects who soared up the rankings in the latest update. Most of these guys made significant jumps after strong starts to their sophomore seasons.

We just needed to see it. We had heard how Owasso quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1235926' first='Drew' last='Frankenfield'] was going to be the real deal but we just needed to see it when it mattered most. And you can't argue that no team in the state had a better first half than Owasso. They beat Bixby at home in the opener and Jenks and Union on the road. In all three games (and the others as well) Frankenfield has never looked like a sophomore out of place. He's unbelievably efficient with the football and he's not just padding stats with easy throws. He's pushing the ball down the field and he's done it against the best competition. There was no doubt that the Owasso QB had earned QB1 for this class.

Edmond Memorial's [player_tooltip player_id='216547' first='Colton' last='McComb'] is a 2027 prospect that we are incredibly high on moving forward. And here's another example of how important it is to watch these prospects in person to really get a full evaluation. We caught McComb in a game last month and he was absolutely dominant on the defensive side of the ball. We've had McComb listed as an athlete in the past and he still plays offense but when we watched him in person we were blown away with his abilities at the linebacker position. And with his size and style of play, we were reminded of the top rated linebacker in this class. McComb is definitely on the rise right now and could continue moving up.

When it was time to do this ranking update, we knew that Idabel linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1171160' first='Kade' last='Pratt'] would be a name that received a significant boost in his overall ranking. He's a borderline top 20 prospect overall and continues to move up the linebacker charts. Last season, Pratt missed quite a bit of his freshman season and we wanted to see how he was going to bounce back. We knew that he had put in a lot of work throughout the offseason to get ready for a bounce back season but he's exceeded all expectations. He has a nose for the football and that shows as he leads the team in tackles and it's not particularly close. He's averaging right around ten tackles per game.

Stillwater's [player_tooltip player_id='1140727' first='Paxton' last='Pitchford'] is the only offensive lineman on this breakdown after making a leap up the ranks into the top five for his position and knocking on the door of the top 25 overall rankings. Pitchford has been working primarily at right guard this season and the midseason film was impressive. He showcased a variety of skills that we liked, including his pulling ability and overall run blocking. Pitchford has really good size for an interior offensive lineman at the next level. He has good size for any position along the offensive line for the high school level. He definitely is taking steps in the right direction and we're looking forward to seeing the full body of work this year.

We wrap this breakdown up with the running back position. Millwood's [player_tooltip player_id='1109329' first='Anthony' last='Keys'] has emerged as a serious playmaker in this class and after getting a chance to watch him in person earlier this month, he definitely impressed us. The thing that stands out about Keys is his consistency with the football. You saw that in flashes last year when he was a freshman but it really looks like he's taken a significant step up this year. And it's easy to see why as Keys is leaned on more as the top running back in the Millwood backfield. Before, he was sharing carries with several other guys. Now, he looks to lead Millwood in rushing as they look to contend again for a state title.
