It's the month of October and that means it's time for a prospect ranking update! Throughout this month, we'll be updating each class ranking and following up those updates with in-depth breakdowns on a ton of prospects in each class. Last week, we kicked things off with the 2028 Watchlist. This week, we continue our updates with the 2027 class. The ranking now features the Top 75 Sophomores In Oklahoma. Throughout the week, we'll also have a ton of prospect breakdowns. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at the best of the best in this class with a spotlight on the top ten prospects in the latest update.

Jenks standout [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] has been considered by us as the state's top 2027 prospect even before he entered high school and nothing has changed between then and now. Stanford holds on to the top spot for the third straight ranking update. But there has been a change to his status in this update. Before, we had Stanford listed as an athlete because of what he brought to the table on both sides of the ball. This time around, we are listing him as a defensive back. He still has plenty of value on offense but his upside looks higher on the defensive side of the ball. Stanford was somewhat limited earlier in the season with an injury so this season hasn't been smooth sailing by any means. But the Jenks standout has been incredibly polished as a prospect for a while now.

Booker T Washington defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='473952' first='Joseph' last='Graves'] is right there in the conversation with Stanford for the top overall spot in this class. Like Stanford, Graves was a name we knew about before his freshman season even began and it didn't take long for him to have an impact immediately for the Hornets. This year, it looks like Graves has taken his game to another level and we are definitely benefitting from just seeing him in person in week six. Graves is an absolute monster on the line of scrimmage and when he's not getting into the backfield, it's usually because he's being held. Despite being just a sophomore, you can definitely make the argument that Graves is one of the top interior defensive lineman prospects in the state, regardless of the class. He's that special.

We knew that Washington linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] was going to be one of the freshmen to watch in 2023 but he exceeded all expectations and was a strong candidate for Freshman Of The Year. This season, Alexander has taken another step as an overall player for the Warriors. He remains one of the top linebackers in the state but he's also added some offense this season as a tight end. Alexander is the third leading receiver on the team but make no mistake about it, Alexander is an absolute stud at the linebacker position. He's once again the top linebacker in the state's 2027 class and he's right there in the conversation with Stanford and Graves for the top overall spot. He plays the game with instincts that you can't coach and it always puts him in a good position.

Owasso defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='521089' first='Bryson' last='Brown'] is another 2027 prospect that remains in the top five of the latest update. He's a prospect that had a terrific offseason from a recruiting perspective. He picked up a handful of D1 offers and the interest hasn't really slowed down since the season began. Owasso has also been absolutely dominant this year and has emerged as the best team in Oklahoma. Brown has definitely benefitted from that as he's had more eyes on him in the last two months. He's still a prospect that we want to see more of in person. We've watched the film and have seen him in person a few times but we think there's a lot here to like. He's another prospect with a very high ceiling and is just scratching the surface on what he'll be.

Down in southeastern Oklahoma, don't overlook Valliant defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1171159' first='Kyng' last='Golston'] when it comes to this class. Golston is another 2027 prospect that has been having a significant impact since he was a freshman. We wrote about Golston a few times this offseason because he was actually showcasing his athleticism on the 7v7 circuit. We got a chance to watch him in person and with the pads on back in the spring and once again, he passed the eye test. So Valliant might not get as much pub as some of the other programs in the major metro areas but Golston definitely belongs in the top ten and he's a defensive lineman that has a lot of the traits to be a dominant prospect. Golston is an absolute force and really tough to deal with for opposing offensive linemen trying to slow him down.

Bixby lineman [player_tooltip player_id='528027' first='Kaeden' last='Penny'] was a 2027 prospect that we were fired up to watch this season because we just didn't know that much about him. Around this time last year, we didn't know anything about Penny around January of this year, Penny got on our radar after receiving his first D1 offer. We thought that Penny was going to be on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage but after watching him this spring and earlier on this season, it looks like he's going to be on the offensive line. So for now, we've moved Penny over from DL to OL but don't be surprised if that changes again in the future. Either side of the line of scrimmage, this sophomore has the ability to make it to the next level. But there's no doubt that Bixby has a great history of producing top offensive linemen.

Booker T Washington already terrorizes opponents with Graves on the line of scrimmage and now they have two of the best guys up front. [player_tooltip player_id='1035135' first='DaWayne' last='Jones'] moved over to Booker T Washington from Owasso and he's a name that has jumped up into the top ten on this last ranking update. Jones immediately got our attention last season in the first game of his freshman year with the Rams. He had a solid offseason and in the summer, he joined Booker T Washington and when that happened, Jones and Graves became (probably) the best 1-2 punch on any defensive line in the state. Jones has also seen his recruitment take off over the last two months with multiple D1 offers. The fact that these two can play side by side definitely benefits each of their individual games.

Another defensive back to keep an eye out for is Jenks standout [player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] and he's the second of three Jenks Trojans within the top ten on this update. Dillard had an excellent freshman season at Lincoln Christian and he carried that momentum into the offseason, where he dominated on the 7v7 circuit and with his team in the spring and summer. Dillard has seen his recruitment take off and he's going to be a name that you need to know about moving forward. Dillard is a playmaker within the Jenks secondary and the duo of Dillard and Stanford is going to make the Jenks secondary a fun unit to watch over the next few years. We've been high on Dillard (and really the Dillard brothers) since watching them a handful of times last year. He's another prospect with a high ceiling.

Not only is Jenks offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='527903' first='Odaefe' last='Oruru'] a newcomer to the top ten rankings, he's a newcomer to the rankings in general. Oruru was on our radar prior to this season but it was mostly for his work on the defensive line. We were waiting for him to have that breakout moment and it looks like it's happened but on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Oruru debuts in our 2027 rankings as an offensive lineman and he's part of a Jenks offensive line that features multiple D1 guys. And earlier this season, Oruru joined the ranks by picking up his first D1 offer. And like we said, we've been waiting for that breakout moment and it was clear to us earlier this year that it was happening for him. He still has some work to do to challenge for the top spot at the position but this is a good start.

Stillwater wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='492378' first='Deakon' last='Jones'] is the best wide receiver in the state's 2027 class and there's a chance that he's the best wide receiver in Class 6A-2 as well. We started to see flashes of what Jones could be last year when he was a freshman. But Stillwater was also senior-heavy at the wide receiver position so his opportunities were limited. This season, there's no doubt that he's the top receiver in the Stillwater offense and has been absolutely dominant. The thing that separates Jones from other receivers is his natural ability as a wide receiver. He doesn't jump off the charts from a size or testing standpoint but just watch him in person or even on film. He catches everything thrown his way and he makes it look effortless. He's enjoying a big 2024 season.
