The Ripley Vikings are 2-0 for the first time since 2020 largely due to the running of 2025 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1014121' first='Noah' last='Casto'] who went wild in their week two 38-13 win over rival Ravenswood. Casto averaged 11.5 yards per carry on 27 totes for a whopping 311 yards and 5 touchdowns to earn our week two PRZ WV Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Ripley offensive line did a great job dominating up front for Casto, and he did the rest of the work beyond the line of scrimmage. While not the biggest athlete, Casto is a hard runner who's tough to bring down on first contact and has the athleticism to turn the corner and be elusive in the open field. They'll rely heavily on his abilities again this season as a multi-year starter for the Vikings.

2026 LB [player_tooltip player_id='894666' first='Wyatt' last='Sowards'] has been a welcomed addition to the Nitro program as expected and is leading the way on defense for tackles through the first two weeks of the 2024 season. Sowards has totaled 24 stops in two games which is double of the next leading tackler for the Wildcats and had a great performance against St. Albans in week two. Nitro held the Red Dragons to just 6 points in the 38-6 win with Sowards totaling 17 tackles and 2 for a loss with several others for minimal or no gain. He was physical on film and did a nice job being stout between the tackles and preventing ball carriers from falling forward.

The Bridgeport Indians had a dominant performance all around against Morgantown in week two with 2025 RB/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1306464' first='Alex' last='Moses'] having a short but efficient night running the ball. Moses needed just 8 carries to reach 123 yards while scoring three touchdowns on the night and forced a fumble on defense in the 49-0 win over Class AAAA Morgantown. They had no answer for Moses and the Bridgeport single-wing offense which saw him turn the corner several times on long touchdown jaunts. Moses has breakaway speed and showcased some twitch in the open field without breaking stride.

He completed 20/33 passes for 340 yards and 4 touchdowns and is off to a great start to his senior year which we expected. While defense was optional in this matchup, McGuire made some high-level throws on film and did a nice job spreading the Hurricane defense out and utilizing his talented cast of receivers.

2025 Grafton WR [player_tooltip player_id='883592' first='Dillan' last='America'] has been one of the best receivers in the state the past few seasons that you may not be familiar with and had a good week two performance against East Fairmont. America hauled in just two passes but had two explosive plays that totaled 113 yards and a touchdown in the 34-24 loss. His first catch showcased his length and jump ball ability and the second flashed his explosiveness taking a slant 70 yards to the house and leaving defenders in the dust. He rushed for 55 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 3 carries and was just as efficient as a receiver with 2 receptions for 34 yards and a third score.
Herbert Hoover vs Nitro

Herbert Hoover has certainly tested themselves through the first three weeks of the 2024 season and will travel to PRZ WV #6 ranked Nitro on Friday night for our Class AAA Week Three Game of the Week. The Huskies have already knocked off perennially strong programs in Independence and Winfield and hope to make it three in a row against a resurgent Nitro program. Nitro will look to avenge their tough 42-7 loss from last season and cement themselves as an early season Top 5 team if they can pull out a big win. Herbert Hoover's strong rushing attack could be the difference in this matchup and could potentially limit the amount of possessions that Nitro's explosive passing offense gets which could decide the game.
