Following Team Kentucky’s close victory over the Volunteers, here’s my take on some of the top 7th grade (2029) offensive standouts from the game against Tennessee.
– Returner and noted standout off of last year’s 6th grade Kentucky Future Stars
– Took a beating throughout the game, but showed toughness and came up big when it counted
– Threw the game-winning touchdown pass with Tennessee defenders draped all over him with time running off the clock. Personally, would have been my choice for Kentucky Offensive MVP
Highlights
– Was not a starter as a Running Back, but got a good amount of touches during the day
– Ran hard and low to the ground, getting the most out of his shorter build
– On the last play of the second quarter, popped off for an impressive run trying to get Kentucky on the board again
– Started at Right Tackle on the offensive side of the ball for the 2024 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars
– Received positive feedback in terms of his potential from the Prep Redzone Next Middle School camp he attended earlier this year, was able to see it in person at the FSG event
– He’s listed on the roster at 6-foot-1 and 225-pounds, but looked bigger than that. Showed off a tall, long, proportionate frame
– Returner and noted standout off of last year’s 6th grade Kentucky Future Stars team
– Like Jay’Vian Meaux Jay’Vian Meaux 5'6" | 150 lbs | RB Bate | 2029 KY listed above, Lawson was also not the starter at RB, but certainly opened some eyes. Not the most complete, nor the biggest Running Back on the roster, but he was exciting
– Lawson’s quickness was a difference marker in comparison to the rest of the RBs on the roster. His best runs came on misdirections or counters, where his quickness would sing the the over-perusing defensive players
– Returner and noted standout off of last year’s 6th grade Kentucky Future Stars team
– Was the starter at Left Guard for the 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team this year. Loved the physicality and toughness he brought to the game.
– Plays with a very strong base and excellent feet for an offensive lineman at this level. Athletic enough to play Offensive Tackle because of very advanced footwork, quickness and a powerful base
– Started at Wide Receiver on the offensive side of the ball for the 2024 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars
– Despite not being all that big–on the roster at 5-foot-5 and 125-pounds–he was one of the players I noticed during warmups. Had a little extra spring in his step, that tipped me off to his ability
– Pound-for-pound he may have been the toughest kid on this 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team. Surely didn’t get as much action his way as he probably would have liked, but made things happen when he get the shot
– Returner and noted standout off of last year’s 6th grade Kentucky Future Stars team
– Was the starter at Left Tackle for the 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team this year. Brought quiet leadership, physicality and a mean streak to the offensive front
– Playing directly next to his regular season teammate at Meece ( Carter Lawless Carter Lawless 6'1" | 245 lbs | OL Meece | 2029 KY ), Alsabrook looked very similar in terms of stature and ability. Having a left side that was familiar to playing with each other does a ton in terms of providing of stability to an offense in a showcase event like this
Highlights
– The eventual Offensive MVP of the 2024 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team
– One of the first players I noticed during warmups on the field. A big, long frame with the requisite thickness to play the Tight End position
– Without pretending to know every catch he’s had in his young career, Whitaker clenched his hands on the ball in the end zone–which had to be the biggest catch of his pre-high school career–as the final seconds ticked off the clock to help Kentucky beat Tennessee

Brayden Walsh Brayden Walsh 6'0" | 145 lbs | WR East Middle School | 2029 KY | Wide Receiver | East Middle – Started at Wide Receiver for the 2024 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team. Was the obvious option with size on the outside (in terms of Wide Receiver) for the team.
Jaron Childrey Jaron Childrey 5'9" | 130 lbs | RB KY | Running Back | Meece – Started at Running Back for the 2024 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team. There were a lot of mouths to feed in terms of running backs, in addition to an obvious surplus of talent at the skill positions. Very fast, long and lean. Ton of potential.
Mark Stivers III Mark Stivers III 6'2" | 240 lbs | OL Hikes Point | 2029 KY | Offensive Line | Hikes Point – Starter at Right Guard for the 2024 7th grade Kentucky Future Stars team. Brought some very obvious size, listed on the roster at 6-foot-2 and 240-pounds, with the build of a power forward of a basketball player.
