JP Brandenburg JP Brandenburg 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL/DL Estill County | 2029 State KY separated himself as the top offensive lineman in the state in his class this season. He lined up at right tackle where he proved to be very reliable in pass protection. Brandenburg uses his quick footwork to get into his pass sets and mirror opposing pass rushers with ease. He also does a great job of keeping a strong base while absorbing contact, not allowing easy penetration into the pocket. JP is also impressive as a run blocker, exploding out of his stance and driving his man out of the picture with a sense of urgency. Brandenburg is a player who I expect college coaches to have their eyes on heading into his sophomore season.

JP Brandenburg JP Brandenburg 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL/DL Estill County | 2029 State KY is another 2029 offensive lineman who caught my attention this season. Brandenburg lines up at right tackle where he is very reliable in pass protection. He gets into his pass set quickly to mirror opposing pass rushers off the edge and does a great job of staying in front of them. JP also does a good job of keeping a strong base, not allowing easy penetration into the pocket. He is also an effective run blocker, showing the ability to drive his man off the line of scrimmage to open up a running lane.

As I mentioned in the intro, and again in the write up of Carter Lawless Carter Lawless 6'2" | 250 lbs | OL/DL Somerset | 2030 KY (listed above), there were a number of returning standouts and starters on this year’s 8th Grade Kentucky Future Stars squad. Starting Right Tackle JP Brandenburg JP Brandenburg 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL/DL Estill County | 2029 State KY was one of those returning standouts, and he again separated himself from the pack. Weighing 40+ pounds more than he did a year ago, Brandenburg did an outstanding job of getting up to the second and third level for a prospect of his size. The future Estill County Engineer moved like a player a fraction of his 6-foot-3, 285-pound size. His ability to get out into space and hit a Cornerback or Safety coming down hill was very impressive.

Seeing him up close this past March at the KYMSFA Battle of the Regions, he was clearly the top Offensive Lineman on the Region 3 team. The starter at RT on last year’s KY Future Stars team, Brandenburg returns to the team an inch taller and 40 pounds heavier. I project him as a starter again.

Region 3 was anchored up front by Right Tackle, JP Brandenburg JP Brandenburg 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL/DL Estill County | 2029 State KY who is up a reported two inches and 10 pounds since last June–though he does much look significantly thicker than that. On the middle school level the biggest kid(s) on the roster are often put at Tackle, even if they don’t project to that position. That is certainly not the case with Bradenburg who has the classic Tackle frame with longer limbs and good agility for a young man his size.
