He is a very athletic tight end who is impressive with the ball in his hands in open space. Whitaker has the speed to run away from the defense and the elusiveness to make defenders miss after the catch to pick up extra yards in a hurry. He has also shown the speed to pose as a threat in the deep passing game. Everest is a player who I am very interested to see how big of an impact he makes once he starts seeing more variety reps and targets.

At a legitimate 6-foot-2 and 185-pounds he’s long and athletic for a Tight End at this level and looks like a natural pass catcher. A two-time Kentucky Future Stars selection, Whitaker is coming off a standout middle school career at Southern Pulaski and will be joining a very complete 2029 group enrolling at Pulaski County High School. When looking at the middle school level, I feel like the Tight End position, similar to the Long Snapper/Kicker/Punter, are often overlooked and taken for granted–until they’re needed most. Watching him most recently at the Battle of the Regions in March, he was a devastating blocker and had opposing defenders on skates. The dual-sport athlete (basketball) also ran very sharp routes, some even better than the Wide Receivers on the Region 4 team. On top of everything else, he’s a humble and hardworking kid–the kind of kid you root for.

He’s a tall, thick athlete with a strong frame that is still developing—a scary reality for anyone brave enough to line up across from him.

This kid is the complete package at tight end. He can secure the C and D gaps in the run game by effectively covering his man. Whitaker knows how to find the soft spots in zone coverage for easy receptions. He often digs into his bag to show off his route-running ability, using his size and physicality to get in position and make plays.
