2029 Rankings Update: WR/TE

As we get deeper into the month of July, the 2026 high school football offseason is in full swing and the regular season is quickly approaching. With that in mind, we have begun a new wave of rankings updates in the state of Kentucky. To start things up in this round of updates, we have officially released our updated Top 125 players in the class of 2029. With these updates being published, I will be taking some time to break them down by position. After already covering the quarterbacks and running backs, here are our top wide receivers/tight ends in the class of 2029 in the state of Kentucky.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wide Receivers:</h2>     [player_tooltip player_id='2242803' first='AJ' last='Rhodes'] is a player who has jumped onto my radar this offseason and has started to make a name for himself. He is a long, athletic wide receiver with a high catch radius, making him a very reliable in jump ball situations. Rhodes has also shown the ability to use smooth breaks in his routes to create separation. AJ holds offers from Kentucky, UConn, Grambling State, and Miami (OH), and I expect more to come his way as he earns more opportunities on the varsity level.     [player_tooltip player_id='868213' first='Alex' last='Decker'] is coming off a strong freshman year in which he caught 25 passes for 376 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games. Decker is a dangerous threat in the deep passing game, using his explosive speed to blow by opposing defensive backs with ease. He has also shown the ability to use his athleticism and strong hands to come away with catches in traffic on a frequent basis. Decker is a player who I expect college coaches to start paying close attention to during his sophomore season.     [player_tooltip player_id='2064821' first='Michael' last='Crigler'] led Bethlehem in receiving as a freshman, catching 40 passes for 607 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games. He is a skilled route runner who has shown the ability to use smooth, sudden breaks in his routes to create easy separation. He has also shown the speed to pose as a very reliable deep threat. Michael also made an impact on defense as a freshman, recording 26 tackles and a team-leading three interceptions. Crigler will definitely be a player worth keeping an eye on as he continues to develop over the next few seasons.     [player_tooltip player_id='868412' first='David' last='Lawless'] is another receiver who led his team in receiving as a freshman, finishing the year with 15 receptions for 294 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games. He is very impressive with the ball in his hands in the open field after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness to pick up extra yards on a regular basis. David is also reliable in contested/jump ball situations, using his athleticism to high point passes and strong hands to bring in the catch through contact. Lawless will be a player for college coaches to keep an eye on as his role in the KCD offense continues to grow moving forward.     To wrap up our top five wide receivers in the class of 2029 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='2123459' first='Devin' last='High Jr']. Devin impressed as a freshman, leading his team with 22 catches for 462 yards and three touchdowns in nine games. High is a very reliable deep threat, using his speed and long strides to create separation from opposing defensive backs with ease. When the ball is thrown his way, he does a great job of tracking the ball in the air and adjusting his body when necessary to make the catch. Devin is a player who I expect college coaches to be keeping a close eye on as he continues to develop over the next three years.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tight Ends:</h2>     [player_tooltip player_id='1311369' first='Brayden' last='Walsh'] has stood out as the top tight end in the state in his class so far. He is a very reliable target in the passing game as he is able to use his speed and smooth breaks in his routes to get open with ease, whether he is matched up against a linebacker or defensive back. After the catch, he has shown the ability to get up the field in a hurry to pick up extra yards. Brayden finished his freshman year with six catches for 77 yards in 12 games.     [player_tooltip player_id='1295700' first='Everest' last='Whitaker'] is a player who grabbed my attention when breaking down freshman year film. He is a reliable vertical threat in the passing game as he is able to use his speed to run by opposing defenders with ease to get open. Whitaker is also impressive after the catch, showing the strength to break tackles and speed to run away from the defense to pick up extra yards. I'm intrigued to see how Whitaker's career develops as he earns more opportunities at the varsity level.     [player_tooltip player_id='1666462' first='Cooper' last='Quaglio'] is our third and final tight end who made our updated Top 125 for the class of 2029 in the state of Kentucky. Quaglio is a very reliable target in the middle of the field as he has shown the toughness and strong hands/concentration to bring in catches with ease while taking on contact. He has also shown the speed to create separation from opposing defenders in the deep passing game and pick up yards after the catch. Cooper will be a player worth keeping an eye on as he continues to develop and get more opportunities in the Lexington Catholic offense moving forward.
