Coming up from the Bluegrass State, Kellan Newton was one of the largest individuals to attend The Rize – perhaps it has something to do with that fertile Kentucky soil. Something I noticed about Newton’s game, that was honestly more advanced for his age, was how well he reset and worked his hands. Newton appears to understand that actively refitting his hands to superior, inside leverage is a key element to winning – which is something I do not typically see 8th graders do.

, an offensive lineman at Pulaski County High School. Newton showcases excellent size and speed for his age, and also stands out with his strength at the line of scrimmage. This talented incoming freshman is worth watching out for next season as he’s proven his ability to contribute from anywhere on the offensive line.

Kellan Newton – primarily aligned at right tackle at this event, was in the running for Offensive Line MVP. A ton of mass, looks like an interior guard. Holds an Eastern Kentucky offer as an incoming freshman. Love how he worked his post leg versus inside pressure. Great mirror man. I’d say Newton put on the best display of technique of any offensive lineman present. Stayed square with the line of scrimmage. A ton of fantastic hand resetting and counters witnessed. The second Kentucky based prospect in this article.

Newton is the definition of a young man-child in the trenches. With an imposing frame and rare size for his age, he immediately stands out whenever he steps on the field. After watching him compete at multiple college recruiting camps, one thing became clear, he simply doesn’t lose many reps. His combination of strength, power, and physical presence makes him a major addition to this Kentucky Future Stars offensive line. Already listed at an impressive 6’5″ and over 300 pounds, Newton has drawn attention as one of the most physically dominant young linemen in the region. Look for him to be a force in the Kentucky-Tennessee Future Stars game and a prospect with tremendous upside as he continues developing toward the next level.

, an offensive lineman at Pulaski County High School. Newton is another high level lineman out of the Bluegrass State to become more familiar with. I really like Newton’s ability to hit the defense hard and buy his quarterback time to make plays. Newton also contributes solid speed and strength off the snap which will definitely come in handy. Newton recently picked up his first offer from Eastern Kentucky.

out of Kentucky’s 2030 class. Newton is an outstanding size in the trenches; he is going to be a big force at this event coming up and I believe he is going to show once again just why he’s there. Big-time linemen out of Kentucky to watch for out of the 2030 class!

out of Pulaski County (KY) is hard to miss the moment he steps on the field. Standing at 6’5 305 as an 8th grader, he’s one of the more physically imposing young prospects you’ll see, but he showed he’s more than just size. He’s still developing athletically, yet he moves better than you’d expect for his frame, with quality feet and a fluid kick step that held up well in drills. His length is a real asset in pass protection, allowing him to keep defenders at a distance and control reps early. As he continues to improve and develop, the tools are there for a high-ceiling prospect with plenty of upside moving forward.

. The fact that Northern Pulaski has both these two as its starting Tackles all season long, just isn’t fare. Newton was the biggest kid on the field and did a great job. With a 109° heat index during the games, Newton was subbed out a bit more regularly than the other starters, but at 6’5″ and 320-pounds–that’s to be expected.

I truly believe that there are no penciled-in starters, and that everything is earned during the practice sessions leading up to the game against Tennessee; With that said,

starting at Offensive Tackle has to be one of the most-likely scenarios. He comes with elite size for a prospect with another year of pre-high school ball still to come, at 6-foot-4 and 290-pounds. He was a clear standout in this game last year, helped the Maroons win a KYMSFA 7th Grade State Championship during the regular season and most-recently was to the PRZ Next All-Camp Team for his performance at our Nashville event.

There aren’t too many 6-foot-3, 295-pound (as of June 2024) class of 2030 prospects out there, but Northern Pulaski has one in Newton. Newton got the start at Left Tackle for the 6th Grade Kentucky Future Stars and did a struggle a bit with some of the speed coming off the Tennessee edge. After half time adjustments, he moved inside some and look significantly better inside playing Right Guard. While he did go back and get some reps at Tackle again, I liked him inside. Any prospect at this size and at this level, will likely struggle with foot work because of the sheer amount of mass that needs to be moved. However, the ceiling is understandably crazy high for a prospect with Division 1 size already. If/when he puts it all together, there’s no telling what he could blossom in to.
