Throughout the month of February, Prep Redzone Oklahoma is updating our prospect rankings for each class. And for the state’s 2027 class, we’re debuting the first batch of rankings. On Monday, we released the 2027 Top 25 and throughout the week, we’ll be putting the spotlight on different players and position groups. In this post, we’re putting that spotlight on eleven prospects that don’t have as much varsity experience but it’s only a matter of time before they become bigger names within this class. Check out Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2027 prospect breakdowns and check back on Monday for the updated rankings in the state’s 2026 class.
If we learned anything from Bixby’s 2023 championship run, it’s that the Spartans don’t need to play just one quarterback. After playing two quarterbacks in 2022, they upped it to three last fall. Freshman Barrett Standley Barrett Standley 6’1″ | 165 lbs | QB Bixby | 2027 OK could crack that lineup going into this fall. He’s also a standout baseball player. Bixby’s QB depth chart has plenty of talent but they’ve also shown the desire to play as many guys as they can.
Lincoln Christian has to replace a lot of production from the running back position but freshman Braeden Baker Braeden Baker 5’10” | 165 lbs | RB Lincoln Christian | 2027 OK is going to be a name to watch. Baker had a really good performance at our camp last month and got on our radar with his play. Baker got a handful of carries during his freshman season at the varsity level. But don’t be surprised to see his production to go up, starting with this fall.
Highlights
Edmond North linebacker Brock Roberts Brock Roberts 5’10” | 180 lbs | LB Edmond North | 2027 OK is going to be a name to keep an eye on moving forward. He had a good freshman season and it seems like only a matter of time before he starts producing on the varsity level. Roberts performed really well at our camp last month and one thing we like about his game is he can flat out fly. Roberts is one of several defensive prospects to watch on this breakdown.
Highlights
Carl Albert running back Delijah Matthews Delijah Matthews 5’11” | 165 lbs | RB Carl Albert | 2027 OK was a name we knew about last summer. The Titans were excited about the potential of this young freshman. But Matthews was also behind arguably the most accomplished running back in school history. Robinson is now at OU and that opens the door for Matthews to be an impact player for the Titans this fall as they go after a third consecutive state championship.
Highlights
Edmond Santa Fe defensive lineman Elijah Tucker Elijah Tucker 5’8″ | 210 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2027 OK is a name that people need to know moving forward. We wrote about Tucker last week after he was one of the best defensive lineman prospects at our January camp. Tucker is undersized. It doesn’t matter. He’s a dog along the line of scrimmage and his deep bag of moves allows him to routinely beat opposing offensive linemen that have a size advantage.
Highlights
We’re not going to put this any other way. We love what Deer Creek has coming up in their 2027 and 2028 classes. The Antlers have some absolute dudes coming up and freshman wide receiver Gage Gibbons Gage Gibbons 5’8″ | 155 lbs | WR Deer Creek | 2027 OK is one of them. Similar to Tucker at Santa Fe, Gibbons had a really good showing at our January camp. He tested incredibly well and could give the Deer Creek offense a burst at the receiver position.
Highlights
Hilldale freshman defensive lineman Kaiden Ford Kaiden Ford 6’1″ | 275 lbs | DL Hilldale | 2027 OK is another 2027 prospect that got on our radar after a really strong showing at the January camp. Ford is a beast along the line of scrimmage and we mentioned it earlier this week, but we absolutely love the defensive line group in the 2027 class already. It’s deep, it’s talented, and Ford is another prospect at the position that will be a monster moving forward.
Highlights
Norman North freshman linebacker Luke Adams Luke Adams 6’1″ | 220 lbs | LB Norman North | 2027 OK is going to be another name to watch for the Timberwolves moving forward. Adams had a really strong freshman season and earned team honors for his work on the defensive side of the ball. We really like some of the pieces that Norman North brings back for the 2024 season. Seeing Adams take the next step could make them a dangerous team.
Highlights
Muskogee has arguably the best quarterback in the state but they also have a freshman coming up so the Roughers aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Payton Lang Payton Lang 5’8″ | 165 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2027 OK is going to be a quarterback to watch whenever Ficklin graduates and moves on to the D1 level. Lang already has a lot of people around the Rougher football program excited about his potential to take over the offense and keep it rolling.
Highlights
Another quarterback to watch is Southmoore’s Taven Hayes Taven Hayes 6’0″ | 155 lbs | QB Southmoore | 2027 OK going into this season. Last fall, Hayes was at Moore and had a really good showing in non-varsity action. He put up some monster numbers and took care of the football. But this offseason, Hayes has moved to Southmoore and with the Sabercats losing their two-year starter at quarterback, that’s opened things up for Hayes to take over.
Highlights
Choctaw has a similar situation to Bixby where they have multiple guys on the depth chart that you can make an argument to crack the starting lineup or get significant playing time. The youngest is freshman Titus Hawk Titus Hawk 6’5″ | 175 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2027 OK and physically, he certainly looks the part. Hawk stands around 6’5 or 6’6 and has an absolute rocket attached to his shoulder. Hawk truly fits the “Next Up” moniker heading into 2024.
