But the schedule really starts to heat up this week as they will go on the road to face 5A’s #5 Piedmont. This is going to be a massive challenge for the Lions but if week one was any indication, Cooksey and the Blanchard offense will be ready for the challenge on Friday.

Owasso bounced back in a big way following their week zero loss to Bixby. The Rams would play host to Jenks and would win 34-28 but the final score is not indicitive of how the game played out. They led 34-7 at one point before Jenks rallied. But the Rams would hold on to win and senior wide receiver Deuce Chalk Deuce Chalk 6’2″ | 175 lbs | WR Owasso | 2024 State OK perhaps had his breakout moment. Chalk finished the game with five catches for just over 200 yards and three touchdowns. Chalk has been a 2024 wide receiver that we have liked for a while now and it’s not surprising to see him put up those kinds of numbers. Friday’s performance over Jenks could spark Chalk’s recruitment and get him on more radars moving forward.
Class A’s defending champion Fairview improved to 2-0 on the season with a shutout victory over Chisholm. Last year, when Fairview was enjoying a perfect season, they had a sophomore quarterback leading the way on offense. The junior has been lights out so far as the Yellowjackets have extended their winning streak to 17 straight games.
One of the bigger questions coming into this season was how Metro Christian would replace their star quarterback Kirk Francis from a year ago. But the Patriots would once again prove that they are a quarterback factory as senior Jaxson Grimes Jaxson Grimes 6’2″ | 185 lbs | ATH Metro Christian | 2024 State OK has moved into that position and he flourished in their season-opening win over NOAH. Grimes would throw for nearly 400 yards and four touchdowns as he completed 30 of his 54 passes. Grimes is a special athlete and he is going to make sure that the Metro offense doesn’t take a step back this fall. Now, Grimes and the Patriots will get a big test in week two as they play host to 4A’s #2 Poteau, who has a very talented and stingy defense.

He was truly dynamic with the numbers he put up on Friday night. He finished 21-27 for 176 yards and a touchdown. But then he also added just under 200 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. 2A’s #9 Beggs rolled to a 48-0 win over Hugo on Friday night to kick off their 2023 football season. He finished with 266 yards and four touchdowns on the night. He only carried the ball 13 times on the night. The Kansas commit was truly special with the football in his hands and he’s been that way since early on in his career. Martel and the Demons now turn their attention to a growing Class 2A rivalry in week two. They will host #10 Rejoice Christian in a rematch of last year’s first round playoff game. After being blown out by Rejoice in the regular season, Beggs blew out Rejoice in the playoffs.

For the second straight week, Union junior quarterback Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK finds himself on this breakdown.
