Senior AJ Lyons-Jerrell AJ Lyons-Jerrell 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Pocola | 2025 State OK has been a player that we’ve covered since his freshman year. He started out as a running back to watch and while he can still impact the offensive side of the ball with well over 5,000 yards of total offense and 60 total touchdowns in his career, his greatest impact going forward could be on defense. The Pocola senior has emerged as arguably the best linebacker in Class A-1 as we head into this season and he’s climbing the rankings as one of the top linebackers in the state’s 2025 class. While he started as a running back, it looks like he’s finishing as a linebacker but either way, he’s going to be one of Pocola’s top players this season.

Pocola’s AJ Lyons-Jerrell AJ Lyons-Jerrell 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Pocola | 2025 State OK is a new prospect to our linebacker rankings but he’s not new to the 2025 rankings as a whole. The Pocola standout has been listed as a running back, athlete and now linebacker because he’s one of the more versatile small-school standouts in the class. But it’s looking more and more like Jerrell could end up playing at the next level at the linebacker position. And it makes sense after we’ve watched him play running back because the kid runs hard and he’s incredibly physical. When you look at his production over the last three years, there aren’t many other guys that can touch what he’s been able to do. So we aren’t overlooking him playing defense.

2025 standout AJ Lyons-Jerrell AJ Lyons-Jerrell 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Pocola | 2025 State OK has been on our radar since he was a freshman and we’re ready to see him have a season where he’s healthy and able to impact the game in a variety of ways. Last season, he was a threat to throw the ball and run the ball as a wildcat quarterback but this fall, he’s also expected to have a big impact at linebacker on defense. We’ve mentioned this before but Jerrell first came across our boards after performing incredibly well at one of our camps. Then we realized he had a fantastic freshman season. Jerrell is one of several playmakers that will be returning for the Indians on the offensive side of the ball. Whether he’s lining up at quarterback or running back, he’s going to be one of the better two-way players in Class A this fall.

Our first prospect on this week’s breakdown is one that first showed up on our radar after performing incredibly well at our January camp in 2022. Pocola 2025 running back AJ Lyons-Jerrell AJ Lyons-Jerrell 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Pocola | 2025 State OK immediately got on our radar and he’s been there ever since as one of the top backs in the state’s 2025 class. Jerrell had to deal with some nagging injuries during his sophomore season but he still put up some really big numbers in the running game despite the nagging injuries and also lining up at quarterback. There’s a lot of action on his sophomore film where he’s lined up at quarterback but make no mistake about it, Jerrell is a running back. He’s an outstanding athlete with the ball in his hands and he looks the part physically. It looked like he had grown a few inches on film compared to when we saw him in person last year. Another thing that stood out about the film was the nasty stiff arm that he has as strength is a big part of his game. He was very productive at the running back position but we want to see what he can do when he has a full season where he’s healthy and off to the races.
