Trinity League Preview

The Trinity League is arguably the best football league in the nation with five of the six teams ranked in the top 50 nationally.

Here is a look at the teams in the Trinity League and a breakdown of all the top players.

JSERRA

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='282761' first='Michael' last='Tollefson'], QB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='406721' first='George' last='Perez'], RB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='942928' first='Clarence' last='Chaney'], LB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='723691' first='Luke' last='Webb'], DE, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'], LB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282706' first='Jake' last='Flores'], OL, Sr.

Analysis: JSerra tied for third place in the Trinity League last season and has a new coach in Victor Santa Cruz who comes down from the college ranks. The Lions also have some new faces on the field in quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='282761' first='Michael' last='Tollefson'] and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'], two of the highest-ranked juniors in the state. A major strength for JSerra is its three-headed backfield with [player_tooltip player_id='406721' first='George' last='Perez'], Kamar Gabourel and [player_tooltip player_id='780472' first='Sean' last='Morris']. The defense features [player_tooltip player_id='942928' first='Clarence' last='Chaney'] at linebacker and [player_tooltip player_id='723691' first='Luke' last='Webb'] who is one of the top edge rushers in the county. [player_tooltip player_id='406653' first='Logan' last='Christensen'] is a skill player with an offer from BYU, but a lot of the other receivers and defensive backs are question marks. JSerra is a serious contender to be the third place team this season.

https://twitter.com/JSerra_Football/status/1691276387163021312?s=20

MATER DEI

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='683642' first='Elijah' last='Brown'], QB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='147730' first='Brandon' last='Baker'], OL, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='115434' first='Aydin' last='Breland'], DL, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='147719' first='DeAndre' last='Carter'], OL, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282698' first='Jordon' last='Davison'], RB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282774' first='Nasir' last='Wyatt'], OLB, Jr.

Analysis: Mater Dei has a new head coach in Frank McManus, but the players on the field are largely the game. [player_tooltip player_id='683642' first='Elijah' last='Brown'] is back for his fourth year at quarterback. The three-headed backfield of [player_tooltip player_id='115462' first='Ajon' last='Bryant'], [player_tooltip player_id='282698' first='Jordon' last='Davison'] and [player_tooltip player_id='273546' first='Nate' last='Frazier'] are all back. The offensive line is largely back with [player_tooltip player_id='147719' first='DeAndre' last='Carter'], [player_tooltip player_id='147730' first='Brandon' last='Baker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282776' first='Sione' last='Tohi'] returning. The entire defense besides one linebacker is back. [player_tooltip player_id='147715' first='Zabien' last='Brown'] leads the secondary with young talent like [player_tooltip player_id='282734' first='Chuck' last='McDonald III'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282700' first='Daryus' last='Dixson']. [player_tooltip player_id='282774' first='Nasir' last='Wyatt'] is an elite pass rusher and [player_tooltip player_id='195568' first='Tanner' last='Williams'] is back at the other edge. Mater Dei has more returning talent than any other team in the league and is once again a contender to win a national champonship.

https://twitter.com/MDFootball/status/1690777668667768832?s=20

ORANGE LUTHERAN

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='282728' first='TJ' last='Lateef'], QB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='723736' first='Jireh' last='Moe'], DL, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='283686' first='Talanoa' last='Ili'], LB, So.; [player_tooltip player_id='780311' first='Auma' last='Jennings'], DL, So.; [player_tooltip player_id='723685' first='AJ' last='Ia'], TE/LB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='283646' first='Marcellous' last='Ryan'], DB, Soph.

Analysis: Orange Lutheran was a very young team last year and still managed to tie for third place in the league standings and make the Division 1 playoffs. The secondary has two D1 commits at cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='115432' first='Marcelles' last='Williams'] (USC) and Frankie Edwards (Idaho). [player_tooltip player_id='115433' first='Peyton' last='Woodyard'] is committed to Alabama at safety. Bosco also added Mayfair receiver [player_tooltip player_id='270895' first='Owen' last='Tomich'] who adds even more depth. Running back is also deep with [player_tooltip player_id='398389' first='Cameron' last='Jones'], [player_tooltip player_id='115464' first='Chauncey' last='Sylvester'] and [player_tooltip player_id='147723' first='Khalil' last='Warren']. The offensive line lacks star power, but [player_tooltip player_id='273573' first='King' last='Large'] is committed to SMU and they also have underrated [player_tooltip player_id='733616' first='Matthew' last='Perdue'] and Maddux Sorensen. Once again it will be Mater Dei and St. John Bosco competing for a national title.

https://twitter.com/boscofootball/status/1596408214152613888?s=20
