Most Valuable Player: Linebacker
Although sometimes it is like splitting hairs and perhaps it just happens to be the rep that you catch, but as far as linebackers are concerned Jones had the most outstanding feet at the camp. They were quick, light, fluid, precise, and fast. This translated well into competition as well. His feet allowed him to run with anyone, recover if beat, and cover running backs like white-on-rice. He has outstanding size and reach, seems well coached, and certainly a prospect to stayed glued on as he enters his senior season.
Highlights
Most Valuable Player: Defensive Back
All day long Foster was an absolute terror for receiver-quarterback duos. It did not matter if his competition were teammates or the best tandem amongst the skills: Foster shut everything down. Foster stuck to defenders like his life depended on it. It did not matter if the route was in-breaking, out-breaking, deep, or quick – Foster has the athleticism and speed to stay with everyone step-for-step in and the agility to seamlessly and fluidly match any move. Once the ball was thrown Foster demonstrated great ball skills, breaking on it to make play after play. I do not recall a single rep that Foster took that ended in a completion.
Most Valuable Player: Defensive Line
Loftin was, literally, described to me by the coaches in attendance with one word: electric. Any time he took a one-on-one spin, it seemed like everyone stopped, paused, and took in his rep. Where Loftin wins is with his hands. He swipes, rips, and clubs well; however, what he may be the most advanced at is using leverage when utilizing the push-pull technique to shed from an o-lineman’s block. I believe he was the only Somerset County athlete in attendance and he put on for his county.
