Scout’s Notes: Standout Linebackers
Below you will find a quick writeup about athletes I personally identified as some of the top performers from the event.
Williams is blessed with tremendous size. He competed during each and every snap that I saw him take. I am curious to see how he might perform as an edge rusher. Matched up against running backs, Williams was always in position to rally rather than play the ball. This, along with his size, is what makes me wonder if he may be better suited to set the edge of the defense at the next level.
Bonczek might have the most upside out of the event’s linebacking corps. I feel this way because of what I saw during Indy. Bonczek demonstrated resounding agility during drills. Additionally, he was great in coverage and ran with the best of them – especially fellow campers who seemed to have an advantage from the onset.
Smoother than silk is how Harmon moves. On Saturday Harmon was perhaps the most fluid linebacker that I took note of. Fluid hips make for him to never become out leveraged, allow him to easily change of direction, and always be in a position to compete. Harmon also can stop on a dime and bend a corner extremely well.
Although I give the slight nod to Harmon, Collins was neck-and-neck with him in terms of fluid mobility. What caught my eye about Collins is the way he can change direction very easily. This seems to be a theme for Millville kids. With that type of mobility as a rising freshman, Collins might be the next big thing for the Orange and Blue Gang.
