Maybe the top steal among the uncommitted seniors on the field Friday night was edge defender Thomas Lackey Thomas Lackey 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Racine Case | 2025 State WI . The senior did a great job of using his hands and length to create space vs OTs throughout the night. I was surprised and impressed by Thomas’ ability to set the edge vs the run. At just 200 lbs he took on linemen or TEs and held his ground forcing RBs inside towards pursuit or he would show off his quick agility while getting around the block and then making the tackle himself. As a pass rusher the senior showed off a good first step and impressive bend and balance to dip underneath OTs and run sharp paths to the QB. Thomas was on the hunt Friday night and he usually got to his prey to make a play. Don’t sleep on this difference maker.

Thomas is an under the radar talent who is putting together another dominant season at DE/OLB. The senior made plays as a stand up LB and as a DE with his hand in the dirt. Thomas is a great fit on the edge. He has the athleticism to pursue out to the sideline without letting ball carriers get outside his containment. His first step quickness gave him the ability to shoot gaps and cross the face of the OL before they could get leverage to cut him off. Lackey also possesses the strength to set the edge when offenses try to kick him out. Thomas is a unique talent on the edge. You can trust him to set the edge and make plays against the run, rush the passer, or drop into a zone and easily slide laterally and change direction. I highly recommend giving the talented defender a look.
