Just like Jordan on the Owasso defense, senior quarterback Mason Willingham Mason Willingham 6'1" | QB Owasso | 2023 State OK has been the best player on Owasso’s offense all season. An injury-riddled season put Willingham in a position this year where he had to play Superman for the Rams to make it to Edmond. He answered that call. And the senior gave everything he had in the game on Friday night but Bixby was just too much to overcome. Willingham would finish 9-11 for 47 yards and then also had 81 yards on 17 carries. He also provided the only fireworks on the night for Owasso in the first quarter when he went 54 yards for the only Owasso touchdown. Willingham finished off his career with an outstanding senior season and he is one of, if not the main reason that Owasso was able to rebound from 1-4 to make it to Edmond.

Fresh off his game-winning touchdown in the Union game, Owasso senior quarterback Mason Willingham Mason Willingham 6'1" | QB Owasso | 2023 State OK is playing with the utmost confidence coming into this week. He’s one of the more experienced quarterbacks in the state and it has shown this season. In addition to what he does in the passing game, Willingham has also had to step up and be Owasso’s primary option in the run game. He leads the Rams in rushing as Owasso has had incredibly bad luck with running back health this season. Willingham has answered that call and is looking forward to getting another crack at the Spartans on Friday night in Edmond. Willingham has the Owasso offense clicking and they will be looking to continue that momentum this week when they face off with Bixby.

Mason Willingham Mason Willingham 6'1" | QB Owasso | 2023 State OK played with more heart than any player I have ever seen. He willed his team to victory and a eight game win streak, despite them missing Alabama wide receiver commit Cole Adams Cole Adams 6'0" | WR Owasso | 2023 State OK . Willingham rarely forced a pass that was not there and made good decisions, breaking down a phenomenal Union defense both through the air and on the ground. On the ground, he would detect a slight opening and exploit it. He is not the quickest player on the field, but he has enough speed and knows how to use it well enough to where he is a dangerous threat. He showed great patience and some elusiveness while running and would not rush anything. Over the course of the game, his statistics speak for themself. He accounted for 303 yards and six touchdowns. On the ground, he had 30 carries for 141 yards and he completed 15 of 26 passes for 162 yards through the air. He showed a nice quick release to quickly get the ball out to an open receiver, as well as perfectly placing a 41 yard pass to a receiver that had a defender on his back. One thing that I liked most about him is that after he threw a pick-6 in the third quarter that shrunk their lead to 13-7, he did not let it bring him down. He came out and continued to play like nothing had happened. That ability to be mentally tough is not something that you can teach. It is remarkable that he has willed an injury-ridden team that is depleted at the running back position and missing their best wide receiver to eight straight wins and a spot in the state championship.

STATS: 15-21 | 177 Yards | 17 Carries | 150 Yards | 3 Total TouchdownsrnOwasso punched their ticket to the semifinal round with an impressive road win over Norman North. Leading the way was senior quarterback as the Rams took advantage of the fact that Norman North was without their star quarterback. Willingham was a true dual-threat weapon at the position with over 150 yards passing and then another 150 yards rushing. He also accounted for three total touchdowns on the night. Now, Willingham and the Rams turn their attention to a rematch from the regular season. They’ll face top-ranked Union in the semifinals on Friday night.

Owasso senior quarterback Mason Willingham Mason Willingham 6'1" | QB Owasso | 2023 State OK has been the one constant within the Owasso offense this season. While players around him went down with injuries, Willingham has stepped up and led the Rams to the semifinals this week. With injuries causing problems to the running back position, Willingham is Owasso’s leading rusher. He’s coming off a fantastic performance throwing and running the ball in the quarterfinals against Norman North. In the regular season meeting, Willingham was able to move the Owasso offense through the air. But Union did a good job of containing Willingham’s ability on the ground. He’ll look to have more of a balance between the two, like we saw on Friday night in their win over Norman North.

Owasso bounced back from their 0-2 start with an impressive road win over Broken Arrow in week two. The Rams fell to Bixby and Jenks to kick off their season but the Rams are looking to hit the reset button as they begin district play on Friday night. Senior quarterback Mason Willingham Mason Willingham 6'1" | QB Owasso | 2023 State OK and the Rams welcome in top-ranked Union to open up the district slate. Willingham has shown tremendous growth as a quarterback over the last 12 months and late in the season last year, he earned the nod as the starter. This year, he’s been the no-doubt QB1 of the Rams. Willingham and the Rams are still trying to find their identity on the offensive side of the ball without their top playmaker in wide receiver Cole Adams Cole Adams 6'0" | WR Owasso | 2023 State OK , who is a top five overall prospect in the state’s 2023 class. Willingham is just as dangerous on the ground as he is in the air and he’ll look to take advantage of that skillset against a very aggressive and talented Union defense.
