had to miss the beginning of his senior season after getting hurt in one of the preseason scrimmages. He’s made up for lost time and continues to be the state’s top linebacker prospect in the state’s 2025 class. James has been that dude for a while now and the ceiling has always been incredibly high for him since he was a freshman and sophomore at Bishop McGuinness. He moved to Carl Albert before his junior season and coincidentally, his recruitment absolutely exploded. After six months of racking up the offers from major programs, James would commit to Oklahoma. James is still that same linebacker prospect who has a very high ceiling. He’s physical, fast and getting better and better.

moving from Bishop McGuinness to Carl Albert and he was an immediate impact player for the Titans. James is the first of the three Carl Albert standouts that are committed to Oklahoma and he committed to the Sooners during his outstanding junior season on offense and defense. You can make the argument that in Carl Albert’s narrow win over Guthrie, James had his best game. He was a weapon on offense at tight end and a standout at the linebacker position. While his future looks like it’s on the defensive side of the ball.

moved from Bishop McGuinness to rival Carl Albert. James has been one of the better prospects in the state’s 2025 class but his recruitment has absolutely exploded in the last 12 months. He truly became one of the elite prospects in the state’s class and while we’ve had him listed as an athlete in the last several updates, it was time to move him to the linebacker position, where he’ll play at the next level. Last fall, he gave a commitment to Oklahoma and has stayed loyal to the Sooners ever since. He’s still going to be one of the better two-way players to watch in Class 5A this fall but his future is definitely on defense.

was the only linebacker to come down from Oklahoma on Sunday. And in a camp like this, it’s tough for linebackers to stand out. It’s similar to 7v7 tournaments where it’s only about their pass coverage skills and they aren’t allowed to be physical. And that is one of the best parts of James and his game on the defensive side of the ball. But James was able to put in work on Sunday in pass coverage and those skills will continue to improve as he works on his quickness and overall movement. James has been locked in to OU since November and nothing has changed.

is listed and ranked as an athlete moving forward. James is on a fast track to the linebacker position at the next level and he certainly has the physical makeup of becoming one of the better ones in this class. James is one of several OU commits not only in this 2025 class but from Carl Albert specifically. James had a strong junior season and it was really around this time last year that his recruitment absolutely exploded. All of the raw athleticism turned into real potential for college coaches and the offers rolled in. James would commit to the Sooners in November.

is one of those players. Whether he’s lining up at tight end of linebacker, James is one of the X-factors for us coming into this weekend. Like Sperry, James showed that he’s a reliable playmaker in the biggest games of the year. He caught that game-winning touchdown against Guthrie and seems to play his best against the toughest competition. We expect James to impact the game but the only question is whether it will be offense, defense or both.

We’ve mentioned this a few times this week but it fits here as well. The state’s 2025 class is absolutely loaded and there are quite a few prospects that would be considered top ten overall prospects in most years but are on the outside looking in. Carl Albert’s

is another example of that. James is a name to keep an eye on in the next week as he is getting ready to announce his commitment on Thursday evening. On offense, James is a tight end that was one of the brightest parts of their massive road win over Guthrie in week eight. On defense, James has the ability to line up at linebacker or even closer to the line of scrimmage. He’s one of the best in the class.

and both times, he found himself by himself. Coming into this week, James had just two touchdown receptions on the season. He caught two massive touchdowns on Thursday night alone. The first score came at the end of the first half and it started to turn the momentum towards the Titans. Then James made the game-winning touchdown reception with less than a minute to play. James only had two catches on the night and they both went for touchdowns. James announced earlier this week that he will be committing in a few weeks. He’ll be choosing between Arkansas, OU, TCU, Texas A&M and Utah.
