has all the tools to be one of the better prospects in the state’s 2027 class. Johnson emerged late last season as a terrific wide receiver and big target in the pass game. But there’s also an element of his game where he can turn around and play defense. And each time we’ve seen Johnson over the last 12 months, he’s been one of the better athletes on the football field. He’s another 2027 prospect that it’s hard to nail down where his highest ceiling would be at the next level. Whether it’s on offense or defense and what positions is still a question. What isn’t a question is the fact that Johnson has the ability to be a game changer no matter where he’s lined up. We’ve seen it firsthand a couple of times this offseason.

is on the shortlist of players we’re fired up to watch this season because his stock is pointing up in a major way. First off, Johnson finished up his junior season playing some of his best football in the final few games of the year. He then followed that up with a terrific offseason, standing out consistently at both of our showcase camps and now he’s ready to have a greater impact on the offensive side of the ball. Johnson is a prospect that’s immediately going to pass the eye test when you watch him in person. Whether it’s on offense or defense, Johnson is a name to look out for this season in the 2027 class.

and he can do a little bit of everything. Because of that, he’s moved up 12 spots in the latest update and is knocking on the door of being a Top 20 overall prospect. This season, while the Titans have definitely been a run-first team, Johnson has emerged as a threat in the passing game. Then he’s turned around and looked really solid on the defensive side of the ball. Johnson doesn’t have the stats that some of the other prospects on this breakdown have but he does have the look of a next level athlete. We watched him in person back in the spring and he looks very similar to some of the guys that Carl Albert has sent to the next level. He’s still raw but there’s a lot of potential there.

checks just about every box necessary when it comes to the eye test. We caught Johnson in person during the spring and we immediately started asking questions. So did the college coaches in attendance. Carl Albert’s coaches believe the ceiling is higher for Johnson on defense. But there’s no doubt that he has the potential to be a breakout star for the Titans on both sides of the ball. Johnson has good size, athleticism and just needs the opportunity for more playing time to put some solid film out there. This could be a big season for Johnson.

and it wouldn’t be surprising if by the time our next update comes out in October, Johnson is flirting with being in the Top 20 or even Top 10. He has that look to him from a physical standpoint and if he starts to put it all together on the field, he’s going to be considered one of the better athlete prospects in this class. This season, Johnson is going to line up at the wide receiver position on offense. He’s going to give the Titans a deep ball threat in the passing game. Defensively, Johnson has that nickel/rover body where he can line up at linebacker and hold his own or drop back in coverage and be just fine. Johnson is a player that we were immediately intrigued by when we got a chance to see him in person this spring. And out of the five on this breakdown, his ceiling might be the highest.
