Grandview’s star QB played phenomenal over the season earning him a place on the Air Force roster. Szarka measures in at 6’2″ 190 pounds, which is a good size for a QB. Over the season, he threw for 2922 yards, 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions with a completion rate of 63.5%. On the ground he has 155 carries for 579 yards and 15 touchdowns. Szarka brings that dual threat ability. He has good athletic ability due to good speed, acceleration and change of direction. Good physical strength. Not afraid to put the shoulder down to create contact. He’ll use his big body to shed defenders. Demonstrates good mental processing by reading the defense, and making the correct read. When under pressure, he’s shown poise in the pocket and bombs it downfield. Szarka has good arm strength combined with a quick snappy release makes him a formidable opponent. His accuracy is good at all 3 levels, but his medium accuracy stands above the others. Air Force is getting a great QB.

After being an explosive running team, the Wolves leaned on the arm of Szarka this year and also in their final game. He was able to post some solid stats but was efficient throughout the season, being able to thread the needle and not turning the ball over was key for his progression this season. He ends his senior season showing his ability to make things happen and limiting turnovers by throwing 28 TDs with only 6 INTs.

Szarka had a phenomenal game against the Huskies. Leading the Wolves to victory, he went 18/29 for 342 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He rushed for 16 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. He’s got a big arm, and will punish defenses with his feet. Szarka has a quick snappy release. Demonstrates good accuracy at all three levels, plus on the run. One thing that stood out to me, was his poise in the pocket to find the man downfield. He has good speed to get out of the pocket and create plays, and is not afraid to get physical with the defenders, often times shedding the tackle.

Szarka was able to build on his momentum from week 1 as well as last season with his display in week 2. Being able to dominate in all aspects of the passing game and letting his receivers make plays for him. He was able to move around in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield, hitting his receivers on those of time plays. He looked good in play action being able to connect for a long TD. He will be a player to watch with his strong arm and ability to fit the ball into tight windows.
