Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Day measures in at 6’4 280-pounds playing left tackle for Grandview. As a freshman, he was starting at the varsity level. Day is a prospect with a lot of potential, and when it’s all said and done, don’t be surprised when he’s one of the top tackles in Colorado. Day has good athletic ability due to his good acceleration and speed. Good knee bend and flexibility. Good initial quickness out of his stance with good hand speed. Very good strength. Very good hand placement and hand strength to control and steer his opponent out of the way. Uses his hand speed to combat pass rush techniques. Day excels at run blocking on the move. Uses his athleticism to get out in space and block for his guys. Good speed from 1st to 2nd level blocks. Very good pull blocking. He gets low and rips through his opponent. Day has a good anchor. Consistently plays through the whistle with a high motor. Watch out for Waylon Day.

Day has the physical tools and technical ability to quickly establish himself as one of the top young offensive linemen in the 2029 class. Playing at left tackle, he already shows solid footwork and balance, allowing him to mirror pass rushers and stay in front of defenders consistently. His ability to slide and maintain leverage stands out for a player at his size. Day also finishes plays with physicality, showing a willingness to drive defenders into the ground and set the tone in the trenches. His combination of toughness, movement skills and competitive edge gives him significant upside moving forward. As he continues to develop physically and gain more experience, Day has all the makings of a prospect who could become a major name within the Centennial League and beyond.
