In a loaded Class of 2024 the 6’3” 230 lbs OLB has locked himself inside the Top 10 overall players. No question, the long, athletic OLB is an FBS level talent and he has the offers to prove it. His highlight reel shows a player with a special combination of traits for playing on the edge and out in space. Out in space, Landon has quick read and recognition skills. His quick twitch and range allow him to capitalize on what he reads. He can slide and change direction allowing him to cover in zone or man coverage. Off the edge, Gauthier has that first step burst to instantly fly past OTs. He has the bend and flexibility to dip underneath linemen. He seems to accelerate all the way to the QB. Landon has also been putting on weight this offseason, so he is going to be even more of a force when setting the edge against the run. He is a must know prospect in Wisconsin.

One of the top talents of the entire Showcase was the Bay Port junior LB. Landon checked in at 6’3″ 222 lbs, ran 4.84, broad jumped 9’10”, and ran a 4.59 5-10-5 Drill. Landon was the top Testing Performance of the Position. As good as Landon was testing, he looked his best when we got to the drills and one on ones.
Landon has prototypical size for the OLB position, and is a D1 level talent because he is blessed with excellent body control and flexibility. His technique was sharp, keeping his shoulders over his toes at all times. That part of his technique really shined when they went against the RBs in ground game battles. Landon is able to cover big chunks of ground laterally and can change direction quickly thanks to his body control. The RBs had a hard time shaking him. He closed quickly, and used his length to corral and wrap up the ball carriers. Gauthier did a good job in coverage picking up LBs and running with them down the field. Landon looked like a high level three down LB all day long. Definitely a name to know if you don’t already. He has an offer from NDSU and Wyoming.

Stats: 12 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 INTrnThe 6’3″ 215 lbs OLB came into the season as one of the top junior defensive talents in the state. He has continued to look the part, and will surely move even further up the rankings after the season. Landon’s versatility and athleticism set him apart from the crowd. He can play on the edge or out over a slot receiver. His range makes it easy for him to cover ground from the edge of the OL to the sideline. He also has special, D1 level, body control. That is so important because it allows him to be able to start/stop, change direction, and bend when rushing the passer. It is easy to see why a lot of FBS and FCS schools are getting him on campus. He holds an offer from NDSU already. Many more are sure to follow.

If you have followed my articles this offseason then Landon isn’t a new name to you, and you know I am a big fan of his talent and potential. The 6’3″ 220 lbs OLB debuts at LB5 in the Class of 2024. Expecting him to continue to climb is one of the safer bets you could make too. Landon is a three down LB who can set the edge against the run, and then rush the QB or drop into coverage with similar success and ability. His ability to read the QB and then slide himself into position to make a play looks easy for him, and when he comes off the edge it is with a strong burst. The rangy LB is going to be apart of one of the state’s Top LB corps this fall. Look for them to be a key to Bay Port’s success.
