One of the best defensive performances of the camp was from Bay Port DB Brenen Flick. The ’27 DB checked in at 5’9″ 161 lbs, ran a 4.92 40, 4.58 shuttle, 8’9″ broad jump, and a lightning quick 7.06 L-Drill. That was just the tip of the iceberg to what would be a great day from Flick.
On the field, with pads on, is where Brenen made a name for himself. The soon-to-be senior is so fluid and loose in his hips and let it be seen in positional work. He has a quick and comfortable backpedal, and can transition out of it quickly. The ’27 also had several head turning plays in 1 on 1 battles. I loved how aggressive he was, jamming receivers at the line. He was able to impact releases and do so without getting himself in a bad position. That agility highlighted by his L-Drill time shined with his reactive athelticism as he was able to easily stay on the hip of the receiver through breaks. It was really impressive to watch him work 1 on 1 as a CB because we don’t get to see that all the time as he plays all over the backfield for Bay Port. The versatile and talented 2027 proved to be someone to recruit this summer and fall.
