Rise: #53 to #40
The main reason for the rise of Jace from 53 to 40 was simply rewatching his sophomore tape and comparing it to the rest of his Class. The 2028 OL is 6’2″ 245 lbs and has barely started to tap into the available space on his frame. He is so quick out of his stance and is able to generate power to move IDL at his size almost instantly. His ability to run his feet through his man and overpower them jumps off the tape. It leads me to think about the type of dominance he would have if he can get up to that 260, 270, 280 range. Especially if he can remain as mobile as he is. The Bay Port standout is going to be an OL to keep a close watch over. His rise might not be done here.
Jace has become a key contributor and one of the top athletes on a very impactful Bay Port OL. The sophomore is now up to 250 lbs and manning the right guard position for the Pirates. The future looks very bright for Jace. You have to love the athleticism he brings to the position. The midseason highlights show that he can explode out of his stance and get up to level two on his own, double team up to level two, and we even see him get way downfield to get a block on a DB. Having that range already makes him a special prospect, but further separating him from the crowd is how powerful he can play too. There are plenty of reps where every twitch he makes seems to be fully backed by power to flatten the DL in front of him. He can turn that quick get off into momentum and force to create a consistent surge in the run game. The sophomore also has the clips showing his stout anchor to provide that secure interior pocket to step up into. Jace is going to be one to watch very closely over the next two years.
Jace made his rankings debut a strong one, but it could be just the start as the sophomore has been pulled up to practice with the varsity at the center position. It is a well deserved honor following a dedicated offseason including weight room success highlighted by a 425 lbs squat. In his recent practice clips Jace is looking explosive, violent, and powerful off the snap at center. The big man is very light on his feet while also still carrying power through every movement. When engaged Jace is able to quickly get underneath his man and remove them from their gap. If he can carve out playing time for the State Champs then we could be in store for a serious breakout year.
