What a gritty performance in the final game of Stevens’ career. Matt battled for 48 straight minutes in the D1 Championship game. He was an accurate passer, got the ball out quickly, and demonstrated the arm talent to easy attack the deepest parts of the field with his speedy weapons. The 6’4″ 210 lbs senior also was a workhorse as a runner. He was grinding out tough yards and slowly was wearing down the defense. We saw him break a few runs as the game went on, and then also set up defenders to always be wrong with his option carries/decisions. While he and his team came up short it was a heck of a final performance from the uncommitted senior. Coaches, you need to check this kid out. Size, arm talent, dual threat, and a competitive drive up there with the best of them.

If you want to talk about scary student athletes to go up against you have to include the Bay Port QB. Matt is a 6’4″ 210 lbs senior QB who can pick you apart with his arm, and put the ball anywhere on the field with accuracy and with the velocity required of the throw. As if being one of the best passers in the state wasn’t tough enough, the huge QB can also kill a defense without releasing the ball. Matt has the speed to be pick up the big chunks of yards with his legs. He isn’t going to go down without a fight either. The ’26 QB is going to lower the shoulder and use every bit of power he can generate from that 210 lbs frame and try to run over the defender.
The senior has proven how terrifying it can be to gameplay and play against him. So far he has amassed 1,486 passing yards, 605 rushing yards, and 26 total TDs. The size, arm talent, and athleticism have produced for years and already have a D1 ring on the resume. This is one of the scariest matchups left in the playoffs.

did everything he could to get Bay Port a chance at victory. The dynamic senior put together a showing that highlights both his arm and his running abilities. Matt is so dangerous in the pocket. He can pick apart a defense with accuracy and a next level arm when it comes to arm strength. In Week 8 the QB did a great job of keeping plays alive, his eyes downfield, and making plays. The mechanics have been so clean this season too. He has taken that next step as a passer, and still has maintained his powerful running style on designed plays or even when the play breaks down. Stevens can kill a defense in a variety of ways. Time to tap into his film and get this kid in for a visit and try to get him on your roster for next fall.

Matt returns as a member of the reigning D1 State Champs and will be looking to put up similar or better numbers in 2025. The uncommitted senior gets it done with his arm and his legs, continuously putting defenses in bad positions and wrong decisions. It should be a fun final campaign for Matt.

. Even if he didn’t have that ability to take over a game with his legs Matt would still be a top athlete at the position. He has a live arm and no fear to aggressively attack deep downfield. Stevens has no problem creating velocity on his throws with his mechanics and big frame to help generate torque. Add in the physical running and long speed when he finds the open field and you have a QB that forces defenses into tough situations on a down to down basis. Matt has earned an offer from UW-Oshkosh, so far.

It was great to get an updated, close look at the Bay Port QB. There is no question that he looks the part of an upper level college QB. He checked in at 6’5″ 210 lbs and on the field he proved that the passing abilities match the high upside frame. Matt has that prototypical throwing motion, gets the ball out quick, has quick feet but is poised through all his movements. The ball jumped out of his hands with velocity and his ability to really drive the ball into spots kept the velocity on the ball all the way to the hands of the receiver. The Class of 2026 is the best group of QBs I have seen and Matt is up there with a lot of the best of this Class, and when it comes to dual threats I don’t think there is a better one in the Class.

. The 6’4″ 210 lbs junior piled up was 21st in passing yards last year and 14th in passing TDs. Over 14 games the 2026 compiled 2,148 yards and 27 TDs. More impressive than the raw numbers are the averages. Even with Matt’s strong numbers, Bay Port still focused on pounding the rock piling up 3,100+ rushing yards. That leads you to think that Matt was a great decision maker and maximized his 15 pass attempts per game to the max. You would be correct as he averaged over 10 yds/att and completed 67.5% of his passes overall. Matt checks a lot of boxes from size, to arm strength and accuracy to efficiency and decision making. A big senior season is on the way from Matt.

did a great job of leading the offense and delivering a complementary performance alongside the run game of Bay Port. Matt has a prototypical frame at 6’4″ 200 lbs but sets himself apart by bringing an athletic skill set with it. On the ground the junior ran hard, behind his pads, and showed the contact balance to be able to break a tackle or move the pile between the tackles. Through the air the junior flashed a live arm. One that can fire to ball into spots and an arm that is able to easily control where he places the ball so that it stays out of harms way. I’m excited to watch Matt in action this offseason at camps. He is sure to turn plenty of heads.
