finished off a whirlwind high school career by rewriting the record book in 2023. Dyson’s journey is one you don’t see often. Freshman year at Owasso, sophomore year at Union, junior year at Beggs and senior year back at Owasso. Dyson made the most of his opportunity in 2023 and was one of the state’s top passers. There’s no doubt when you look at this breakdown that Dyson is one of the more improved quarterbacks in the class. His arrow is definitely pointing up as he heads to the next level. The Owasso signal caller earned an opportunity to head to the next level at LSU.

came into this season in a battle for the starting job. It didn’t take long for Dyson to earn the job and he has taken that opportunity and ran with it. Dyson has set records this season in the Owasso offense and has been one of the best quarterbacks in Class 6A-1. There’s no doubt that Dyson benefits from having some really good players at receiver but he has reached new heights in his own game as a quarterback. We’re looking forward to seeing what he does on Friday.

It might have been the game of the year in Class 6A-1 and this might have been the performance of the year in the class. #3 Owasso would stun #4 Edmond Santa Fe in the final seconds to win 57-53. And senior quarterback

had a night to remember as he helped lead the Rams to a massive win and put his name at the top of the school record book for yards and touchdowns in a game. Dyson finished the night with 514 yards and seven touchdowns on 20-28 passing. It would be a mistake to not mention Dyson’s two top targets

and at the wide receiver position. Both had fantastic nights and Chalk would be on the receiving end of what would be the game-winning touchdown. When we look at Dyson now compared to week zero, it’s night and day difference.

has made an unbelievable jump when you look at his last two games compared to what we saw from him against Bixby. In week zero, Dyson was 6-13 for 55 yards. In the wins over Jenks and Broken Arrow, he’s a combined 26-37 for 570 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s been incredibly efficient with the football and there’s no doubt that he has weapons with Chalk and Thomas at the wide receiver position. But I think it’s safe to say that his progression from week zero to where he is now is one of the best we’ve seen from anyone in the state. Dyson also benefits from having that strong offensive line in front of him and they’ve kept him upright. Now, he looks to carve up his former team.

for the way they bounced back from a week zero loss to Bixby and came out firing on all cylinders against Jenks in week one. The final score was 34-28 but this was a game where the Rams jumped out to a 34-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Dyson, who struggled against Owasso, was flawless against the Trojans. He threw for well over 300 yards and five touchdowns and only had four incompletions on the night. Dyson finished the game 18-22 passing and looks to continue that momentum this week as the Rams play host to another Tulsa-area rival in Broken Arrow. The Rams are looking to have a winning record heading into a much-needed bye week in week three before district play opens up against Union. Dyson’s connection with some of Owasso’s top playmakers at wide receiver is something we’ll be following on Friday. It was outstanding last week and we’re watching for an encore.

continues to be one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the state’s ’24 class. He’s had quite the journey so far in his high school career but he’s back at Owasso and looking to finish off his career with a strong senior season this fall. We’ve watched Dyson quite a bit over the last two years during the offseasons while he played in various 7v7 tournaments. The arm talent is something that always impresses us during these tournaments. But this weekend in particular, we watched Dyson a little closer and between in person as well as looking back at the video, his growth reading the defenses has taken a big step. Dyson was quick with his decision making and going from read to read to find the open man. Dyson had a good year with Beggs last fall and he’s looking to continue that momentum this fall.

hasn’t had the simplest path to the football field as he’s with his third school in three years but there’s no doubt that there’s talent there when it comes to Dyson as a passer. There’s no doubt that Beggs is a run-first team with the offensive line and extremely talented players they have in the backfield. But Dyson gives Beggs a legitimate threat at quarterback to beat defenses with his arm. We’ve seen plenty of the 2024 quarterback during the last few offseasons while participating in 7v7 tournaments and passing leagues. The arm talent is there and he can get the ball from point A to point B in a hurry. We’re interested to see what kind of production Dyson has in an offense that is run-heavy, but can open things up for him and the passing game. He’ll be attacking a Rejoice defense and specifically a secondary that specialize in forcing turnovers.
