Whenever you talk about high school football players from a recruiting standpoint, the word “underrated” gets thrown around a lot. For Owasso senior standout it seems to fit. When you look at his production over the last 12 months, there are few players in 6A-1 that have been as productive as him. Whether it’s on offense or special teams, Thomas is special with the football in his hands. There are two things about him that are true every time he’s on the field. He’s usually the smallest player out there but more importantly, he’s usually the most elusive player. Thomas leads the team in receptions and while Chalk is the big play receiver, Thomas is the guy that will get the job done after the catch. He well over 100 yards of total offense against Union in their last meeting.

Speaking of underrated players. Owasso 2024 standout proved last season that he could be an overall playmaker in Owasso’s offense. When the Rams lost star receiver Cole Adams for the season, they needed some new names to step up and Thomas was one of them. We’ve watched Thomas in person quite a bit over the last two years but like Chalk, the majority of it was in various 7v7 tournaments. But just like in those tournaments, Thomas proved last fall that you can’t tackle what you can’t catch. Listed at 5’8 on the roster, Thomas is an absolute speed demon with quickness and lateral movement that is incredibly tough to keep bottled up. Thomas would lead the team in receptions last fall as the Rams would get the ball out to him quickly and let him work in space. They’ll do the same thing this fall as Thomas is a highlight play waiting to happen.

A breakout player this season for Owasso has been junior wide receiver and overall athlete . The electric junior has made plays as a wide receiver, as a return man and even provided the Rams with some much needed depth and help at the running back position. Owasso’s offense struggled on Friday night, that’s not a secret. So the numbers aren’t as impressive as what you see from Bixby but Thomas is still a player to watch moving forward. Thomas was the leading receiver for the Rams with four receptions and he also would finish with four carries on the night. Thomas was bottled up by the Bixby defense for the most part but everyone on Owasso’s offense was, with the exception of the quarterback, who’s featured later. Keep an eye on Thomas moving forward.

Owasso junior is a player that has been on our radar for a little over a year now but it’s mainly been for what he’s done in 7v7 during the offseason. He’s a smaller player who is lightning quick with the ball in his hands. But the size questions still lingered and we wanted to see what he could do with the pads on. He has answered those questions and then some so far this season. Not only has Thomas been dynamic on offense, he’s also given the Rams a boost in the return game. And all you need to do is put on the film of the Union game and see that Thomas is a dynamic player on offense. Going against one of the top defensive units in the state, Thomas could not be contained. The Rams use him in the perfect way on offense and he’s enjoyed a breakout season because of it.
