Bates is one of the more athletic and violent pass blockers across the region, and moves extremely well for his size with great feet, strong hands and a violent finish in the run game while able to get out and block in space. He had a terrific Spring evaluation period and turned heads from visiting coaches while picking up his first few offers over the last several months. Coming off a state championship winning season for the Diablos, Bates holds offers from Hawaii, Houston, NAU and New Mexico State and remains one of the top uncommitted linemen from across the Southern California region.
