Still a relatively new school, Waukee Northwest’s football program has grown at a fast rate. The Wolves reached the Class 5 state semifinals for the first time in school history last fall. Northwest is developing talent through all levels of the program. De La Cruz did just that in 2025, when he competed on the freshman team. There’s not a lot of footage of his campaign posted on line yet. I was able to find several clips on Hudl and on his X page. De La Cruz stands out for his length, closing speed, fluid hip movement in changing directions and keen instincts. I’d be interested in more film, but he has my attention from what I’ve seen.
