The younger brother of Iowa walk-on offensive lineman, Cael, Gabe Winter Gabe Winter 6'2" | 245 lbs | OL/DL Waukee Northwest | 2027 State IA is following the family line with his football abilities — by position and everything. Both playing center for their respective teams, the Winter brothers are an offensive linemen family.
Gabe picked up his first-ever offer over the weekend, this one also from Drake. An OL that, once he gets ahold of you, he ain’t letting go, Winter gets his hands up-and-under the pads of defensive linemen, driving his legs straight ahead and out of the play. With a strong lower half and hands that latch on the inside of opposing DL’s pads, Winter run blocks effectively, but can also stonewall a defensive tackle in his place on passing plays.
With some positional versatility, Winter could play either guard or center at the next level, at Drake, or wherever he ends up.

Competing in the trenches as a sophomore on the 5A varsity level isn’t easy, but it’s something Winter can say he did and did well. You can witness the performance on his 10th-grade highlight video. Winter is an intriguing combination of power and athleticism. He’ll blow a defender up in close quarters or pick them him off in space. He’s strong already, so with another offseason of training, it could get dangerous for the opponent in 2025 and beyond. The chances of Northwest climbing up the ladder in the large-school division this fall would be greatly aided by Winter breaking out, which seems well within reach.
