A versatile defensive back that earned reps at safety and corner during his junior campaign, Eddie Kennedy Eddie Kennedy 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Waukee Northwest | 2027 State IA has the feel of a prospect primed for a big senior year. Fresh off putting together 43 tackles and a pair of interceptions for Waukee Northwest, Kennedy has the tool kit of a sure-fire tackler that’s difficult for ball-carriers to evade.

With the potential to play safety or nickel at the next level, Kennedy doesn’t mess around when it comes to making tackles. He may very well double the amount of tackles he had last season for the Wolves this coming fall, and he’ll have the chance to ride the momentum into college. Able to play man and zone coverage at corner, too, Kennedy’s career could go a lot of different ways, but it makes sense to buy stock in the No. 7 DB in Iowa’s 2027 class.

Kennedy earned his first offer from Drake this week.

It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle a bit when playing in a Waukee Northwest program stocked with college prospects. Staffs on the next level would be wise to check in the shadows for Kennedy, however, who flashed promising potential during the Wolves’ first-ever trip to the state semifinals. He piled up 43.0 tackles with 35 of them being solo stops. Kennedy added three tackles for loss and intercepted a pair of passes. It’s a broad base of skills that would work at safety or linebacker in college, depending on the scheme and how his body develops. His frame is capable of adding good weight. During his junior highlight video, we can watch Kennedy prove he’s capable of delivering in powering up against the run or sticking with would-be receivers in pass coverage. He would do well getting into college camps this spring and summer.
