Not far behind Kiesau in the Kohl’s 2027 longsnapper rankings, Powell Wenthe Powell Wenthe 5'6" | 160 lbs | LS Waukee Northwest | 2027 IA of Waukee Northwest is another one of Iowa’s — and the nation’s — top longsnappers. He has a ways to go to match Kiesau’s physical tools, but the snapping is there for Wenthe.

Kohl’s describes him as having “shown polished mechanics and a smooth snapping motion at every Kohl’s Snapping Camp he attends,” adding “He had tight ball rotation on each snap and an average snap time of .7 seconds.”

He finished the season 17-of-17 on punting snaps and snaps 70-of-70 PATs and field goals.

I don’t claim to know a whole lot about the art of long snapping. It’s a position where you often go unnoticed unless the snap is airmailed over someone’s head. That said, Wength appears to possess the accuracy and consistency the spot requires for success when watching his junior highlight video. On top of that, the folks with expertise in evaluating snappers of the football, Kohl’s Kicking, rank Wenthe as the No. 9 long snapper nationally in the 2027 Class, saying: Wenthe has the snapping ability to be great and will be an elite prospect as he develops physically.
