South Dakota reportedly offered Davis a scholarship back in March. I thought that might open up the flood gates for a guy with height, length and a projectable frame capable of being developed in college. He’s athletic with quickness and speed. There’s a lot to like. Other schools have been slow to jump in with him, and perhaps he’s overshadowed on a deep roster. A look at highlights from the first half of his senior season reveals that shouldn’t be the case. Davis is an edge rusher with upside. He performs effectively with his hand in the dirt or standing up. With burst off of the snap, he wins with speed but also utilizes his hands well. The production is there as well. After racking up 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks last season, he had 5.5 and 3.0 in six games this year.

has the frame and athletic potential to excel on the D-line, and that potential was on display during the 2024 season. Davis recorded 34 tackles (26 solo), 8.5 TFLs, and 5.5 sacks. Davis was able to drive defenders back while using his reach to gain leverage and nab RBs trying to pass by to bring them down behind the line, while also showing good tackling form. Davis showed the potential of making big plays behind the line of scrimmage, but he could do more to work on his pass-rush moves, as his reps showcase a very straightforward style-of-play. If Davis can improve on that, there’s no telling how high Davis’ ceiling will be in the future.
Part of a talented group of athletes returning to the Wolves in 2025, Davis will be building on an excellent junior campaign. He racked up 34.0 tackles, 26 of which were of the solo variety. Davis collected 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble. Davis’ junior highlight video reveals a disruptive force off of the edge. He boasts a linear frame with long arms. Davis shows a nice burst off of the snap and an understanding of technique. He just needs add to his pass-rush bag of moves and increase his strength. And those are common areas of improvement sought at this stage of a player’s development.
