If you want a pure 3-down tight end, Hudson may be your best bet overall out of this group. He does a lot for the Pumas offense as an H-Back/Move player, an in-line blocker, and a matchup problem in the vertical passing game. Last season, Hudson was an all-conference player who contributed on special teams on top of all of those offensive responsibilities, a nice value-add for a program that’s not talked about much. After a 26-catch season last year, Hudson has a chance to really improve on those numbers this year and make an even bigger impact for the Pumas.

Nolden is a big target for a Palisades program that continues to rise. The new school on the south side of Charlotte has already produced several elite prospects, and Nolden looks to be the next in line. He’s equally effective in the run game and the passing attack, and on a loaded roster this season, he’s primed to be a true difference-maker.

Hudson really got a chance to show his downfield catching ability well in this showcase. Hudson was able to gain separation consistently against linebackers in 1 on 1 coverage. On film, Hudson shows his versatility as he blocks well from both an H-Back and an inline blocking role. Hudson should once again be an important piece in the Pumas’ offensive attack this season.

An All-Conference selection last season, Hudson has been a player who has developed well in his first 2 years in the Pumas’ offensive attack. Hudson can excel both as an H-Back/Move player and as a straight in-line tight end. He does a good job of blocking on the edge which allows the Pumas to run some outside zone/stretch plays with success. Hudson also does a good job of operating in the middle of the field, finding the seams of the defense, and catching the ball well in traffic. Also in the open field, Hudson shows some very good speed with the ability to run away from defenders.

Aside from Nicholas Rankin, Nolden resonated with me as the most varsity-ready North Carolina prospect on this team. Stands 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds with a pretty good build on him. He’s going to be an interesting prospect to watch develop because he’s a bit of a tweener at this point, with size and speed somewhere between wide receiver and tight end. Defensively he did a good job as an outside linebacker and was around the ball regularly. However, I think his future is certainly on the offensive side of the ball given his skill set. Dropped a pass that looked very catchable in the game, yet caught everything thrown his way during several rain-drenched practices. There’s something to this kid.
