Even at this point, we’re still not exactly sure which position Watts will play in college, but I personally lean toward the pass-rusher thriving as an undersized three-technique at the college level. There’s some room on his frame to hold more healthy weight and he excels at shooting interior gaps and making big plays in the backfield.

Playing the EDGE role, I thought Josh had a good game in this defensive struggle for both teams. Against a talented dual-threat quarterback, I thought Josh did a good job of keeping his pass rush integrity and always funneled the quarterback back inside to where his teammates were there to help contain him. Josh also ended the game, picking up a sack on the final play before Chambers could throw a potential Hail Mary pass for a touchdown. Josh also had 6 tackles and 3 tackles for loss for a good all-around game.

Watts plays multiple positions on the defensive line and while he could end up as a college edge rusher, we like him best as an interior defender. He transferred to Palisades from Berry, where he flashed in limited reps and we think he has game-wrecking potential.

Coming over from Berry High School, Josh showed off the things he does best – use his quickness and hands to shed blocks of offensive linemen in his pass rush. Tying that with good speed, Josh earned his 2nd offer from Brevard College. Josh was very excited about what he earned and he spoke with me after his camp performance.

Joshua can also play inside at Defensive Tackle or play out on the edge as a defensive end, and has switched over to Palisades High School for his senior season. Joshua had some good reps in the pass rush 1 on 1’s segment of the showcase. Joshua had some impressive pass rush moves – a spin move, a dip/rip move, and a jab step that all resulted in wins. He will have to be patient with his recruiting because of his size, but he has a good shot of playing college football on the next level.
