The 6-foot-6, 215-pound gunslinger is a legitimate quarterback who can put defenses on their heels. He has a solid arm and good accuracy on the deep ball. He has enough mobility to buy time and throw on the move, and can often make tough completions with defenders in his face. McWilliams finished the season 161-for-251 yards for 2,313 yards passing.

It wasn’t the fastest start to the season for McWilliams as he was getting his feet wet, but as the weeks have gone by that confidence has grown and he just popped off on Friday night with his best game yet. He was confident, throwing with anticipation, and dropping dimes. He stood in the pocket tall and went through his reads quickly. He’s got a quick release and doesn’t hold onto the ball. With 348 passing yards and 3 TDs on the night, it was great to see everything come together for McWilliams.

The incumbent backup has had some reps over the past 2 seasons, but not many. However, what we’ve seen from him is fairly promising and he’s got a bunch of traits you’re looking for. So, if McWilliams is the starter there’s reason to be excited. He’s a pocket passer who likes to go through his reads and get the ball out. He won’t hold onto the ball or try fitting the ball into spots he shouldn’t. While there isn’t much live Varsity tape to go off of, he’s always seemed confident on the field and has the stature that radiates confidence. I’m curious to see how Center Grove performs this year and how this QB room shakes out.
