Torres, who was named the MaxPreps player of the year in New York led St. Anthony’s to an 11-1 season and a NYCHSFL AAA Title. Torres threw for 3,320 yards, 35 Touchdowns, 67% completion percentage, 504 Rushing Yards, 13 Rushing Touchdowns, and only 4 INTs. Torres was unstoppable all season and his ability as a dual-threat quarterback made him near impossible to defend. One of the best arms in New York Torres could kill you threw the air and if you dared to drop everyone in coverage he could take off and make plays with his legs. Even in St. Anthony’s lone loss which came to St. Joseph Regional from New Jersey Torres threw for 462 yards, 4 TDs and added 76 yards on the ground with a TD. Torres was easily the best player in New York this year and if this was his Junior season he surely would have blown up as a national recruit. Instead Torres is headed to Fordham who are getting a really polished passer who could come in and compete to start as a freshman.

Torres’ has an incredible arm and looked very comfortable in the pocket. He also showed his elusiveness, constantly avoiding tacklers and making incredible throws on the run. In big games he showed the ability to the ball in a spot where only his receiver could get it. HIs running ability was a game changer down the stretch. He showed terrific speed and vision as he ran for over 100 yards and multiple scores in the AAA championship game vs Iona. 
 

It is hard to mention how good of a night Korey Duff Jr had without giving props to the man throwing him the ball. The Senior leader threw for 336 yards and four touchdowns (All to Duff Jr) on a 74% completion percentage. Torres not only was incredible through the air but added eight carries for 145 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to lead the Friars in both passing and rushing on the night. Torres’ movement in the pocket was incredible and a tough Iona Prep defensive line struggle to get their hands on him all night. What was most impressive about Torres night was his ability to know when to run vs. keeping his eyes down the field and delivering the ball to his playmakers. Torres long season of domination showed it can shine at the highest level in New York. The future is bright for one of the most polished players in the class of 2023.
