Dante Torres Dante Torres 6’3″ | 190 lbs | QB St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY made one of the biggest jumps in the top 50 going from 35 all the way to the #1 overall player in New York. Torres, who was named the MaxPreps player of the year in New York led St. Anthony’s to an 11-1 season and a NYCHSFL AAA Title. Torres threw for 3,320 yards, 35 Touchdowns, 67% completion percentage, 504 Rushing Yards, 13 Rushing Touchdowns, and only 4 INTs. Torres was unstoppable all season and his ability as a dual-threat quarterback made him near impossible to defend. One of the best arms in New York Torres could kill you threw the air and if you dared to drop everyone in coverage he could take off and make plays with his legs. Even in St. Anthony’s lone loss which came to St. Joseph Regional from New Jersey Torres threw for 462 yards, 4 TDs and added 76 yards on the ground with a TD. Torres was easily the best player in New York this year and if this was his Junior season he surely would have blown up as a national recruit. Instead Torres is headed to Fordham who are getting a really polished passer who could come in and compete to start as a freshman.
Highlights
Ian Strong Ian Strong 6’4″ | 180 lbs | ATH St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY is not only a stock riser because of his play as one of the best defensive backs in New York but a position change from just a DB to ATH as Strong played a fair share of wide receiver this season is what is responsible for his jump in the rankings. Strong had 30 receptions, 797 yards, 10 touchdowns, and averaged a whopping 26.6 yards per reception. A true big play threat Strong was incredible using his size and athleticism to consistently win down the field. On the defensive side of the ball Strong was his usual self with 80 Tackles, 41 Solo, 3 TFL, 3 INT, 1 FF, 1 GW Blocked FG. Strong was a playmaker on both sides of the ball this season and was clearly the best 2-way player in New York.
Highlights
Rashard Perry Rashard Perry 6’3″ | 245 lbs | DL Bennett | 2023 State NY was one of the most impactful and important players to his team before this season even started and his value and presence was intergral in the Bennett Tigers winning the NYSPHSAA AA State Championship. Perry also was the winner of the Trench Trophy which is given to the best lineman in Western New York. The Syracuse commit was unstoppable this season registering 104 Tackles, 24 TFL, 14 Sacks, and 14 Hurries. While Perry was incredible effective it actually stats wise was a down year for the stud from Bennett. Although his numbers regressed a little bit his on the field impact did not. Playing nearly every snap every game Perry was the type of game wrecker that opposing coaches just could not gameplan for.
I got the opportunity to see Michael Cogoni Michael Cogoni 6’3″ | 280 lbs | OL Archbishop Stepinac | 2023 State NY play against St. Anthony’s the #1 team in New York. I was blown away by his power, athleticism, and really advanced fundamentals. Cogoni does a great job of driving blocks on really quick passes but has shown to have really nice reps in true pass protection. Cogoni has a really strong base which contributes to his power and is one of the best finishers in New York. Cogoni’s strong season helped him pick up an offer from Coastal Carolina, where he is now committed to. Cogoni becomes the #1 offensive lineman in New York after a really strong season.
Highlights
Colin O’Garro Colin O’Garro 6’1″ | 205 lbs | RB Iona Prep | 2023 State NY was on our radar as one of the best RB’s in the state last season which was cut short because of an injury. This season O’Garro was relied upon by Iona Prep and couldn’t be stopped on the ground. O’Garro had 142 carries, 1319 yards, 17 TDs, and 8 of his 12 games had at least 100 yards rushing. O’Garro also added 16 receptions, 264 yards, and 2 TDs out of the backfield. O’Garro elevated his play in every way this season and had one of the best running back regular seasons in all of New York and what is easily the toughest league the NYCHSFL. O’Garro has incredible size at 6’1 205 and the speed and power combo to really develop into a stud at the next level. The Dartmouth commit had one of the most notable jumps from Junior to Senior year we saw in all of New York.
Elijah Daniels Elijah Daniels 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Curtis | 2023 State NY could be the flashiest playmaker in all of New York, the Curtis receiver was the PSAL leader in receiving yards and responsible for what is likely the most exciting highlight tape in New York. 47 Receptions, 900+ Yards, and 14 TDs capped off a dominant season for the best outside receiver in the PSAL. If you want just 7-minutes of straight domination and viral highlight plays just check out Daniels tape here.
https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16607240/63417788dfd8b2119022dba7rnDaniels is incredible in contested catch situations and has really sure hands. With great length and athleticism he can make catches that not many receivers can make. Daniels makes these kind of plays on a regular basis. The star from Curtis started to get some recruiting attention but remains one of the best uncommitted players in the class of 2023 in New York.

Irvin Briggs IV Irvin Briggs IV 6’4″ | 260 lbs | DL Holy Trinity | 2023 State NY was one of the main factors in Holy Trinity’s championship season in the NYCHSFL AA division, Briggs IV was a leader on Holy Trinity’s stifling defense that didn’t allow more than 19 points in a single game against New York opponents. Briggs IV has such a quality speed and strength combo that he could be pretty scheme versatile at the next level. Briggs IV also has a really deep arsenal of pass rush moves, which he will use to help beat blockers in the run game. Briggs IV recruitment is open and he holds offers from some solid division I programs. Briggs is one of our biggest risers after building on a strong Junior season.
Highlights
Kenyon Miles Kenyon Miles 6’2″ | 170 lbs | ATH St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY missed several games due to injury and came into the season as one of the most notable WR recruits in New York. However, with Miles injury and the emergence of Ian Strong Ian Strong 6’4″ | 180 lbs | ATH St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY St. Anthony’s found another way to use Miles skillset as a defensive back. The Senior year position change was impressive for the WR who is headed to Villanova to play on offense. His performance on defense showed his versatility and elite athleticism will easily translate to the next level.
Highlights
Potentially overlooked because of the QB play of Ajani Sheppard Ajani Sheppard 6’3″ | 225 lbs | QB Iona Prep | 2023 State NY and Dante Torres Dante Torres 6’3″ | 190 lbs | QB St. Anthony’s | 2023 State NY in the NYCHSFL Devin Page Devin Page 6’3″ | 185 lbs | QB Kellenberg | 2023 State NY is easily one of the best quarterbacks and athletes in New York. Responsible for over 2700 yards of total offense and 22 touchdowns Page was really dangerous as a dual threat quarterback. The UPenn commit is a really smooth passer and does a fantastic job of keeping his eyes down field. One of the hardest quarterbacks to bring down Page really took a step forward as a runner this year averaging over 80 rushing yards per game.
Highlights
Precious Ekeh Precious Ekeh 6’4″ | 285 lbs | OL Canarsie | 2023 State NY was one of the best lineman in the PSAL this season. Ekeh has a division I build for a lineman and he has really good power. Ekeh moves well in space and does a great job connecting with defenders at the second level. I saw Ekeh a few times this season and was impressed with his performance. He was one of the only lineman in the PSAL who could put up a fight against an incredible Erasmus Hall defensive line. Ekeh is a little raw with his fundamentals but his power and finishing ability contributed to having one of the best years for a lineman in New York. Ekeh projects a little as a project at the next level but easily could develop into a strong well-rounded FBS offensive lineman.
Wayne Coleman Wayne Coleman 6’2″ | 275 lbs | DL Archbishop Stepinac | 2023 State NY had a standout year for Archbishop Stepinac and supplanted himself as one of the most impactful defensive tackles in New York. One of the most athletic 300+ pound players in New York Coleman has an extremely quick base. That quickness is also reflected in his hand placement and ability to use his hands violently against opposing lineman. Coleman registered 10 Sacks, 16 Hurries, 80 Tackles (30 Solo), and 9 TFL. Coleman can have an impact stuffing gaps against the run but also has the athleticism to really rush the passer from the inside. One of the most dangerous interior defensive lineman in New York jumps up the rankings after a superb season.
Andre Kirton Andre Kirton 5’9″ | 170 lbs | ATH Holy Trinity | 2023 State NY was really solid this season amongst a Holy Trinity squad that has the best ATH in 24′ in Josiah Brown Josiah Brown 5’11” | 175 lbs | WR Malverne | 2024 State NY and one of the best 23′ ATH in Dylan Braithwaite Dylan Braithwaite 5’10” | 175 lbs | WR Holy Trinity | 2023 State NY . Kirton is one of the best athletes in this class and is easily one of the fastest players in all of New York. If he were on a team with less talent on the outside he would have blown up the stat sheet but because Holy Trinity does such a good job of spreading the ball around Kirton was a major piece of Holy Trinity’s offensive puzzle. Kirton is incredible after the catch and does a really good job of keeping his moves north and south always fighting for extra yards. Kirton also was a really solid defensive back and returner. Kirton remains one of the top uncommitted players in New York and his skillset is intriguing at the next level. Kirton could easily play on either side of the ball at the next level but I think he could easily become a solid Returner and offensive weapon for several local college programs.
Highlights
Mason Dietrich Mason Dietrich 6’4″ | 275 lbs | OL Chaminade | 2023 State NY was Chaminade’s best player in a really solid season from the NYCHSFL team. Dietrich is position versatile but played his Senior year at center which I think is his best position for the next level. Dietrich did such a good job this season in pass protection especially when it came to helping his other lineman. Dietrich is the type of player to find work and routinely would register pancake blocks on pass protection reps. Dietrich also is quick to the second level and a really solid mover. Dietrich could add some power and finishing ability but he has the skillset and fundamentals to really be an effective center at the next level. The Fordham commit was a huge part of Chaminade’s success this season and picked up that Fordham offer after a strong summer of offers from solid programs.
Highlights
Dylan Evans Dylan Evans 6’3″ | 185 lbs | WR Orchard Park | 2023 State NY showed again why he is one of the best playmakers in Western New York. Evans is one of the best pure receivers in this class and the New Hampshire commit dominated all competition in Western New York. Evans routinely makes difficult contested catches and is one of the most dangerous deep threats in New York. With a long frame at 6-3 Evans has great size for the next level and he also showcases solid athleticism. Evans is a really good route runner especially down the field and has shown that he can be dangerous after the catch as well. A strong Senior season jumps Evans up a few spots in our rankings.
Highlights
Jorge Ruiz Jorge Ruiz 6’4″ | 290 lbs | OL Iona Prep | 2023 State NY had a really solid season at Tackle for Iona Prep building off a strong Junior year and summer where he picked up several offers and committed to Georgetown. Ruiz was a huge reason that Iona Prep RB Colin O’Garro Colin O’Garro 6’1″ | 205 lbs | RB Iona Prep | 2023 State NY had such a great season. Ruiz has really solid fundamentals and is a strong athlete. A really solid blocker in space Ruiz can be really effective as a puller, on screens, or just outside zone runs. Ruiz also has the strength and power to push back players to the second level. Ruiz could improve his lower body speed and change of direction but he has a strong base so when he is in position he doesn’t get beat on pass protection reps. Ruiz had a strong Senior season and jumps up a few spots in our rankings.
