I absolutely love what I see out of Caseton. His blazing speed and change of direction make him a matchup nightmare. Lining up primarily in the slot, he consistently created mismatches and separation all night. The most obvious example of this was when he hit a DB with a subtle but effective move, freezing the DB for a moment and exploding by him for the touchdown. Great agility and acceleration allowed him to completely put the DB in a blender. One of Grand Blanc’s most dangerous offensive weapons, Caseton will continue being a focal point of this offense heading into the postseason!
Caseton is mainly utilized in the slot, and he’s schemed open in a variety of ways. Very often, Caseton hits the DB with a great double move before either cutting inside or outside, usually earning immediate separation.
Against a great Adams defense, I expect Grand Blanc to scheme Caseton open a lot. Adams runs a good amount of zone, so I expect Caseton to sit in a lot of zones, hopefully earning a ton of targets.
In my view, Caseton is a fringe D1 prospect. He’s 1000% a GLIAC prospect, and I would not be surprised if he picked up some late MAC attention this offseason.
Caseton lives up to his Twitter handle (@cantguardcase). Every team he’s faced has had an incredibly difficult time guarding him.
His most recent tape against Davison kicks off with a very good whip route that turned into a 35-yard touchdown. Now, I think the route could have been a little better. On the other hand, he showed great speed in the middle of the field. Throughout the rest of his tape, Caseton consistently shows good route running, which is much of the time followed by great RAC.
I will say that he needs to improve with contact balance and open-field elusiveness. Against good tacklers, Caseton struggles to break through. Still, I see the athleticism on tape and expect him to eventually earn D2 offers.
